Vehicle Detail
I've been in the auto body business for over 50 years. This hot rod was built by a friend who is one of the most talented welders I've known. It is very solidly constructed with lots of thought and engineering apparent. The body is a stretched T-bucket with loads of legroom. The driver will sit low in this car with the steering wheel in a normal position, not upright with a vertical shaft between his knees like a normal bucket. I traded a paint job on a restoration for the car but other projects are now taking my time and funds. Someone is going to get a very nice roller (no engine/trans) at an extremely reasonable price. Chassis: The chassis is 2 x 3 steel tubing, Z'd in three places to allow the body to sit low but still with plenty of ground clearance under the motor. At each Z the builder butt welded the tubing, then fishplated, then rosetted the joint. It is extremely strong. The arch over the rear is fabricated from flat stock reinforced both inside and out. This is one strong, stiff chassis and will not flex like a typical T-bucket perimeter frame. The mounts are set up for a small block Chevy and auto trans. The trans mount is removable. A brake pedal and master cylinder mount (old Corvette disc/drum pattern) are tacked but can still be taken loose for adjustment. Front end: 40 Ford axle, spindles, and radius rods hung on a Posie's superslider spring. There is a through tubing spring mount on the radius rods directly behind the knuckle forging, once again bracketed and reinforced for strength. The disc brake conversion has new calipers and rotors. The shocks are Speedway friction shocks for a bucket. Steering is a reversed Corvair box. The radius rods mount through the tubing almost directly under the box. The steering arm travelling in the same arc as the axle will reduce bumpsteer. The steering D-shafts, u-joints, bearings, and quick release wheel mount with Bell wheel are included. They are mocked in place but can easily be moved for any driver's dimensions. Rear end: Chevy S-10 rear w/3.70 gear and drum brakes. The spring is a new Speedway T spring, once again with their friction shocks. The rear is located by new adjustable hairpin arms. MIsc.: A four core radiator mounted in a cut down 29 A commercial shell is included. It mounts uniquely to the frame using tractor pins. Two early Chevy big truck lites with new conversions (mounts and reflectors) for modern headlites are included. There is a mockup chopped windshield frame with Lexan front window. An 11 gal. spun aluminum tank fits on brackets over the rear. (Ready to bolt on.) Four brand new radial tires mounted on Wheel Vintique steelies are on the car. Best yet, the car includes a set of lake style headers fabricated to fit this car. There are some other small parts I'm forgetting about, I'm sure. Call and ask with any questions. While the car resembles the Speedway Old School T or the kit sold by NEHR, the build actually predates either. It is also much, much cheaper with more included with this roller (No engine/trans). The car is sold as is with bill of sale only. The hot rod is located just off of I-95 about halfway between Jacksonville, Fla. and Savannah, Ga. Buyer is responsible for shipping but due to the amount of parts included, I'd recommend picking it up. No bidders with zero or negative feedback, no bids outside US/Canada, no scammers. Cash, money order, or Paypal accepted but nothing leaves until all funds have cleared.
