Vehicle Detail
Rarest of the 1100 16 valve/air-cooled bikes built in the early 80's...even rarer than the iconic 82/83 Katana! great bike with plenty of power(1100 Suzi. engine powered the 1st 200 m.p.h. 1/4 mi. dragster!!) bodywork is like new with exception of side covers that have a few broken tabs(very common with this bike) tank is perfect inside + out...front fairing is N.O.S....brand new chain..polished swingarm ..,mag wheels + disc rotors are perfect...runs + idles perfectly waiting for new windshield to complete resto. overall a very nice looking/running bike ready to ride clear title in my name...99% stock condition...any ??'s email me or call (215)901-1410...bike up for local sale also ,so auction may end early thanks for looking ... Mike. On Jul-21-13 at 15:29:03 PDT, seller added the following information: The 1983 GS 1100ES was the 1st production bike tested by CYCLE WORLD to run a standing 1/4 mile in the 10's..Suzuki developed a unique wedge-shaped squish-band combustion chamber first used by Cosworth in its race car engines ...they coined it "Twin Swirl Combustion Chambers"(TSCC)...this gave the 1100 an advantage over its competitors...in a shoot out with comparable superbikes of the day(Honda 1100F/V65,Kawi. GPZ 1100 and Suzuki's own KATANA) the ES came away with top honors(CW Sept. issue) The ES's combination of consistent sub 11 sec. quarters, its nimble yet stable handling,long-distance touring comfort, simple maintenance and bulletproof reliability made the GS 1100 the 5th "most significant motorcycle" of the previous 35 years by RIDER magazine in 1999. Maybe CYCLE WORLD said it best: "The motor and frame and suspension are right. The engine is brilliant, making tons of power at every engine speed without ever seeming to work at it..."Taken as a whole, as a complete motorcycle, the GS works, and works WELL" Nearly all the cycle journalists in 1983 agreed that the GS1100ES was simply the best all-round big bike on market"....
