Vehicle Detail

HISTORY: This car is from the Golden Age of Studebakers. In the 20’s Studebaker came out with the “Six” series. “These are the cars that made Studebaker famous” stated Studebaker president Albert Erskine. This 1922 Studebaker has lived it’s life in Northern California. The car comes with one of it’s registration cards from 1928 and a registration card from 1978. We do know the history of the car for the past 32+years. It belonged to a fellow member of the Antique Automobile Club of America until my father in law bought it about 15 years ago. (we can’t remember the exact date) He had purchased the car from the original owner. I do remember how delighted my Father-in-law was to have the opportunity to add the Studebaker to his collection. We inherited the car and moved the car to Oregon in 2006. We live in a beautiful county for touring, but there are no active car clubs close enough to us. We have found that we only take the car out for one event a year. We do enjoy driving on the backroads of the Oregon wine country in this car. So we have decided to downsize our collection to two cars. We will also be selling our 1937 Airflow. FACTS AND DETAILS: This 1922 Studebaker is the Special Six. It comes with original sidecurtains and irons that are in wonderful condition. We also have two front fenders that are in excellent shape. We are including the antique lap robe and the lap robe lock with key. There is an original Service Manual and an original Owners Manual. We have an extra set of keys that appear to be original. Also to be included is it's car cover. Negotiable: we also have two matching original 1922 Oregon licence plates. CONDITION: Looking at eBay’s buyer guide on purchasing a classic or collectible car this car would be rated in “FINE” condition: “A completely operable vehicle that is possibly an older restoration or an original car that shows minimal wear. a car with an 80+ rating is usually considered show quality.” Surveying the car with a critical eye: the paint is not thin or faded but does show that it is an older restoration with some imperfections. The wood spoke wheels do have some paint chips. On the drivers side running board there is a small 2” circle (maybe from a greasy can?) and may clean off but we are not sure what to use on it. Each door has a handy pocket for storing gloves, the drivers door having more elaborate storage. The top is in wonderful shape, there are some faint water lines on the inside of the top. Overall it is an impressive car and a great piece of automotive history. MECHANICS: This is an honest car that we have found to be dependable and easy to drive. Mechanically it is in great running condition. The vacuum tank (fuel pump) was professionally rebuilt at a cost over $700 after it leaked for the first time in over 25 years. We have found it easy to start even after sitting for months. We keep a battery tender connected to the Optima battery so it’s ready to go. Deposit of $1000.00 is required within 24 hours of winning. Contact seller for instructions on remainder of payment. Full payment must be received within 10 business days of the close of this auction or the bidder forfits his winning position and the car will be open for purchase to another party.
