Vehicle Detail

It's the Autumn of 1970, and a special day in the life of one Truman Miller of Waterloo, IA. It's the day that the John Deere Tractor Company is rewarding a top employee for a lifelong career of dedicated service. That reward is a special ordered, loaded up, GMC Sprint finished in Brown over Saddle with a V8 engine and automatic transmission. You see, John Deere gave Truman carte-blanche to option his special Sprint just as he always wanted. He chose the following factory options: AK1: Deluxe Belts and Horn A01: Tinted Glass All A39: Deluxe Seat Belts A85: Deluxe Front Shoulder Harnesses B93: Door Edge Guards C08: Soft Roof Cover (Vinyl Top) C60: Air Conditioning D33: Remote Control Mirror GW5: 273 Rear Axle Ratio JL2: Front Disc Brakes J50: Vacuum Power Brakes L48: 350 Cubic Inch Invader Motor M38: Three Speed Turbohydramadic Transmission N33: Tilt Steering Wheel N40: Power Steering PX6: F78X14 Bias Ply White Wall Tires P01: Full Wheel Covers X14: IP Gauge Package (temp, oil, amp, tach) X35: Electric Clock X63: AM Pushbutton Radio X66: Windshield Antenna X78: Front Bumper Guards Z14: A/C Body Side Moldings XXX: Special Order Unit. Truman enjoyed his special Sprint into his retirement and religiously maintained it at the original selling dealer, Friendly GMC in Cedar Falls, IA. Following his untimely passing in 1974, his widow placed Truman's pride and joy in the family garage, until her relocation to an Assisted Living Facility in 1994. At that time, a family member purchased the Sprint and was amazed by the condition, low mileage, and originality of the car. The grandson continued to garage the Sprint until October 2010. That's when I purchased Truman's pride and joy. Recent service includes: full brake service including drums, wheel bearings, rotors, pads, shoes, and springs. A complete exhaust system was installed. The Sprint starts, hits high idle, runs, and drives like a dream. All lights, gauges, options including the C60 factory air work just as they did in the fall of 1970. Most recently, correct factory 1971 recondition rims and brand new TA tires were added. The factory Parchment interior is like new. The dash, door panels, seats, and even original carpet show almost no wear. The factory gauges are as crisp as they were back in '71. The Sprint has been garage kept since day one, and it shows. Documentation includes the original owner's manual, factory keys, and a factory build sheet listing all ordered options and selling dealer. A copy of above listed service is also included in the sale. The Sprint has an older paint job ( brown ) and rust repair. Some bubbles are starting to show. However, it has never been totally restored. It's all original. The factory color is Copper. I tried to show this in the pictures. I have never driven the Sprint on a long trip. Just around town. More pictures are available. If you like El Camino's, you will love this GMC Sprint. When was the last time you saw a one family owned, low mile (73,527 ), original Sprint that drives like new? 1971 was the first year GMC offer the Sprint. This is truly a one of a kind vehicle.
