You are bidding on an 83 Porsche 944 that was being prepped for road racing. In an effort to lighten the car as much as possible and allow for a roll cage to be installed the entire interior was removed and just the bucket seats replaced. The seats currently have their original tan material but a brand new pair of black bucket seat upholstery go with the car. They are specifically made for these seats and just need to be taken to an upholsterer to be installed. The engine was completetely rebuilt and blue-printed in 2011. Over $5000.00 was spent on the engine alone. In addition to the engine work a brand new performance exhaust system was installed from the engine back which includes a long tube header. Again this car was being built for road racing so there is nothing stock about the engine. Based on the specs that were used when building it the engine was expected to produce almost 250HP!! After the engine was started and the initial break-in procedure was completed it was taken out for a test drive and after about 50 miles of driving the engine stalled. There were no signs of fluid loss, overheating or catastrophic failure but it would not restart. Cylinder pressure is good on all four cylinders and all timing marks are in proper alignment. Spark is also good and it is getting fuel but will not start and run. This car has a 5speed manual trans and comes with a brand new clutch and pressure plate. Rather than risk causing possible internal damage to the engine I would recommend pulling the engine again and inspecting its internals for problems. The engine will crank freely but does hit hard spots randomly while cranking. Everything is new in the engine including the cams, valves, valve springs, bearings, oil pump, rings, pistons, rods, etc... This could be a great father son project to continue with making it a race car or put it back to its original stock condition. Also the front brake calipers have been upgraded with multi piston calipers. Brakes were all gone through 2 years ago with all new fluid and they still work fine. All four tires were also installed brand new 2 years ago and show no signes of wear or weathering. The car has been in dry storage ever since it stopped running. All lights work fine. All gauges on dash were working fine when the car was last driven just after the engine rebuild. I am selling this car for a friend since he no longer has time to work on it so he would rather it go to someone with an appreciation for fine motorcars.
