For auction is a frame off restoration completed in 2009. Virtually Everything on this car has been replaced with new, nos, or professionally rebuilt parts. The frame was stripped and rotissered and everything was removed. All lines, A frame bushings, shocks, leaf spring bushings, etc. are all new. Brake drums, cylinders, cables, etc. are new. The engine is a total rebuild and hardened valve seats were installed (so as to use regular no-lead gas). The rebuild has less than 2000 miles on it. The power steering is all new, the windshield wiper motor was rebuilt, original valve covers are included but heavy 57 T-Bird alum covers are installed. The battery was replaced in June. The only deviation from stock is an electronic ignition under the dist cap - it starts with a touch. The radiator was recored and all wires are new. NOS rockers and arms were installed. A new gas tank, float, and sending unit were installed, new mounting bolt assys were used. The transmission was rebuilt. The body had usual ford rust - so all 4 floor pans were replaced along with part of the trunk floor. The front quarters, rear quarters (all 4) and the rocker panels were replaced with NOS parts. The final three coats of primer were hand sanded before mounting on the frame. The interior is from ABC interiors and is correct for the car. Ditto for the rug and vinyl panels. There are no rips or tears on them. Every piece of rubber on the car is new, no old material was used. The radio is an AM-FM cassette player, same dash opening. The clock quit last year. The top is 2 years old and looks as good as the pics. The motor, cylinders and lines are of course new. The glass is all good, no problems there. The chrome items, lenses, etc. are from Dennis Carpenter. The paint is correct for the year, skirts are included, Also, if you wish, you can have a huge assortment of spares of all kinds shown in the photos, gathered in the five years before the restoration. The car needs a repaint. There are no chips or damage and it is really great from 5 feet. The final step of painting was done by what turned out to be less than expert. It appears to have been painted damp and there are several defective areas - mostly fish eyes. On return to the painter - he was gone - end of story. I have lived with the paint and never bothered to get a redo. It is still a head turner and only severe health issues are forcing me to sell. The fish eye is one area on the dark blue at the right rear panel about 9 square feet and a few small areas elsewhere.On Jul-07-13 at 13:39:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Had one question - no power brakes on the car. Also, I could not get all the photos on the listing - several window winder assemblies, small parts and the books - Shop Manual 57 Ford, Motors Manual, Body assembly manual, Electrical manual- 57 ford, Assembly & parts Binder listing every single part (and number) used on the 57 Fords.On Jul-08-13 at 11:09:08 PDT, seller added the following information: had some questions on "fisheye" in the paint. Opinions vary - some say it's orange peel caused by not having the enamel mix correct.- feels like orange peel since I've never rubbed a fish eye. It needs to be sanded off and the areas sprayed again.
