When is the last time you saw a 1955 Suburban, especially a GMC Suburban? This 1955 GMC rests on a 1998 GMC pickup chassis with a fuel-injected 4.3L vortec and a 4L60E 4 speed automatic transmission. The 1998 instrument cluster and steering column were integrated in as well. The tan leather interior is from a Honda mini van. The body has some rust (see photos) but is solid and repairable. New A/C compressor; needs an aftermarket A/C system to be functional. New fuel pump, battery, and windshield as well. Enjoy the 1955 styling with modern running gear. Runs and drives great. The second row is buckets and they are bolted in. The third row seat is not bolted down. Tire tread is good. It starts like a 1998 GMC- good. No known accidents. I'm sure it's been smoked in sometime in its 57 years, but I don't smoke and I don't notice any bad odors. The brakes are good. Both front windows roll down. One of the sliding glass pieces in the back is cracked (but it is flat glass so it should be easy to replace). Rear doors work fine. The engine & trans are original with the mileage shown (came from a low mile 1998 GMC Sierra C1500). Cooling is fine. It's been serviced regularly. Gas tank is the 98 C1500, 20 gallons, I believe. I would have no reluctance about taking it on a long trip. It has the 98 power steering, power brakes, ABS, and daytime running lights, but other than the drive train, it is still 1955- rubber floor mats, loose weather stripping and spartanly equipped. Also, it does not have seat belts. It includes new weather stripping- I believe it is for the front doors. If you like rat rod, drive it as it is. If you want it restored... It needs some rust repair. Patch panels available for the pickups should take care of most of it. Needs paint, interior work (has rubber floor mats in the front and a pickup bed liner in the back). It is a solid, driveable, buildable, hard-to-find truck.
