My 1961 Econoline is the most photographed and talked about hot rod I have ever had or seen. I call it the thumbs up smile maker machine cause every where I go and I mean everywhere I get thumbs up and lots of smiles. I realy dont want to get rid of her but my Dad has a 30 model A that he wants to see done before he passes so I need the cash to finish it for him. Cars can come and go but I only have one Dad. Ok...Heres the skinny on it. It has a 429 engine with C-6 tranny in it and it was done by a hot rod shop at the cost of 10 grand. I am told that it may be a cobra jet engine. It runs realy well and I drive it every day and I mean every day. I had a professional appraisal for 14,500.00 on it.I can fax you a copy. Now I don't want that much for it so shoot me an offer. The engine is in the center of the seats and not in the bed like everyone thinks. The batterry and radiator fill tank are the only things in the bed up in the corner. It has a 9" ford rear end with disc brakes in the back and drum still up front.( Stops like hell in reverse) Ha Ha. All of the brake lines are new as well as the fuel lines and emergency brake cables. It has a little play in the steering box and cold probably be adjusted out but still drives just fine. The cooling system is done very well with a larg copper 4 core radiator with dual electric fans. It never gets over 180 degrees.Usually stays around 165. The carb is a new Holley 750 race carb and I put a brand new Patronics electronic egnition system on it.I have a grand in just those 2 things. Yes the zoomies are hooked up and not to loud and have a nice sound to them. It has a pete jackson gear drive so it has a little wine to it.(not to loud) The inteirior is nice and new.The cab is well insulated and padded so it is quiet while driving. The fixed window rubbers and door rubbers are all new and door jamb rubbers. The paint is ok for a driver as it has nicks and chips and is about 8 years old. The body seems were filled and a couple of places are starting to show a little age. The body work was not the best thats why I say it is a nice driver and not a show paint job. Just keeping it real. It is till very shiny and looks good. People never realy notice the small imperfections cause they are dumbfounded by how cool the truck looks. The tail gate is the only thing that was rough...solid but beat up and has a small amount of glass in it. Did not come with the body and was hard to find one and it was beat up so they glassed it up. This truck is as solid as can be under neath. The bed is very straight and solid and is not beat up. One of the pics is of the bed floor where I lifted the carpet to show how solid and straight. Another pic is of the step in the cab. This is where these trucks rot first and this one still has all of the factory spot welds and clean seems. The American Racing torque thrust wheels and tires were very expensive at 3200 bucks. It has 20s on the back and 18s on the front. This truck has a custom built reese hitch thats not on it rite now and has trailer brakes also.I will put it in the back of the truck. I took the hitch off to have the gas tank restored and to put a new sending unit in it and never bolted it back on. This truck was built to pull trailers with but was never used for it. It has a custom made bed cover on it that fits it real nice. This is a very fun truck to drive and everyone loves it and I hate to see it go.
