Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Welcome to my NO RESERVE auction! This model of mustang car is relatively rare on the east coast so I thought I would provide some history. Shelby Inspired: In mid-February 1968, the California Ford Dealers (Ford Dealer Advertising Fund) began to market a factory-built, limited-edition Mustang, called the GT/CS, or "California Special". The hope was for a targeted production run of 5,000; however, only 4118 were made, including 251 units that were remarketed in Denver, Colorado, as "High Country Special '68". Production ran for only 5.5 months from mid-February 1968 to early August 1968. Shelby Automotive, now part of Ford, at this time was assigned the task of designing and engineering the necessary parts and assembly procedures for the GT/CS. This was done right alongside the development of their 1968 Shelby. The fiberglass parts were crafted at A.O. Smith, in Ionia, Michigan, in steel molds. A.O. Smith was also the same OEM manufacturer for the Corvette fiberglass bodies. The completed fiberglass parts for the GT/CS included: the rear deck lid and end caps, taillight panel, and side scoops (RH and LH). Auction Info: I bought/shipped this car from California last October with the intention of a restoration. I had to change jobs in January and now I travel too much leaving me with no time to work on the car. I rate this car a 5.5 out of 10 holistically. It runs, drives and stops but I didn’t trust it out of the neighborhood because the car sat for a long time. Also, there is a slow drain on the battery that I suspect is a minor short. The previous owner did the following - New paint job & new hood- 95% of interior is new- New Tires- Functional Side Scoops Even though the car was painted recently with a new hood and 95% of the interior is new, below is my punch list for the restoration I planned. Again, this is my list but I wanted a comprehensive restoration, by no means is this list that the new buyer has to follow. I just wanted to be transparent and helpful: - Strip car to bare metal and repair any hidden sins & repaint- Rewire the entire car with a new harness as I do this on all my classics. Great insurance and I recommend this with any classic. Painless makes great harnesses that are relatively inexpensive and easy to install. There is a minor short somewhere that is draining the battery over 24-48 hours- Power steering hoses (hose touched manifold and melted)- A/C Compressor/Condenser units (has A/C controller)- Inspect floors, they were replaced and look fine but wanted to make sure- Refurbish the rims- Refurbish the bright work- New hoses throughout- Install hood locks. Hood is new and holes will need to be drilled.- Radio knobs- Some of the windows are tough/won’t to roll up/down so wanted to rework/replace- Driver side external door handle doesn’t work and needs repair/replacement- Some interior components like new seatbelts and arm rests.- Inspect braking system- Pressure test & flush radiator (I recommend this for any classic car)- Replace gaskets on motor and trans I have a video of the car running that I can send you. Having issues posting it to eBay. Inspections I welcome and encourage inspections. I have a lift and brightly lit shop. Inspections can be conducted during the following times: - Weekdays: 7pm-10:30pm- Weekend: 9am-10pm Please give me at least 24 hours notice to schedule your inspection. Shipping I will work with a shipping company but request that they pick up from my house on a Saturday if possible. I live in Ridgewood, NJ 07450. Please coordinate with me first before setting up/committing to a shipping company On Jun-19-13 at 07:18:53 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added more pictures and the video of the car running here on my photobucket account:
