Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is one of the first 5,000 Suzuki RM's ever made, Serial# indicates it was very close to the end of the M run before the switch to S and the manufacture date is 05/75. It starts 1st or 2nd kick and runs exactly as it should through all gears. Bike was taken down to the frame, cleaned, painted, and all needed parts replaced. Fenders and front number plate are quality replacements from Vintage Suzuki with proper hardware used. Tank and side panels were stripped, cleaned, and painted with closest match possible. Decals on tank and rear fender are period correct from Vintage Suzuki. Seat was recovered with the best replica available and the "hump" is there - foam was decent but not perfect. It is believed the tires are original but I can't find anything to verify this - both are Bridgestone Moto-Cross, front is a Moto-Cross 7, rear is a 6-they are definitely worn. I do have the original fenders to include the rear with the 2 rubber plugs that were needed to cover the holes used on the TM from the same year. I also have the front flap but like the look more without both. I found this bike in a warehouse where the owner stated it had been sitting for 20+ years and the pictures will help tell the story. It was missing the magneto cover, chain, and sprocket cover and unfortunately it was leaking oil. After cleaning the bike and the carb it started but it had a stator issue, that was replaced and it fired right up. The oil leaked around the shift lever and the rear chain guide was cracked so it was quite clear it threw the chain pretty bad at some point-the guide was repaired quite well but not perfect. After finding magneto and sprocket covers it was also clear the shift shaft was bent, which probably caused the crack, so that was replaced. I am not a welder but I did do a JB Weld repair that completely stopped the leak. You will also see that the pipe is bent slightly down and the silencer dented a bit. I believe it could be straightened quite easily but I chose not to push it. There is light pitting/rust on the forks between the triples and the original bars have a bit of the same issue. Rear shocks are original and do dampen. Because it ran so well I did not take the motor apart in any way and I don't believe it ever has been. I truly believe this is a low hour bike that had fun for a few years, ran into some issues, and got parked. The tank and side panels really look good but they are not perfect. I have done my best to present this bike as well as I can and I will be sorry to see it go. Just need the room and want it to go to a good home. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. There is no title but I will provide a bill of sale. Good luck and happy bidding,
