Vehicle Detail
I am listing this for my brother. Below is his description. I'm familiar with the series as I have a 1987 911 myself: This auction is for a 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera sunroof coupe. I have had the car since 2005 when I bought it in Knoxville, Tennessee. It had approximately 127,000 miles on it when I bought it. It has approximately 137,050 miles on it now. I believe the mileage to be accurate. In the interest of transparency, I will explain everything I know about this Porsche. I am not inclined to misrepresent it in any way because I want the next owner to enjoy it as much as I did and have a thorough understanding and appreciation of it. This car had three owners before I bought it. When I moved to Canada in August 2008, I left it with my father in Georgia, and the car has been garaged and covered ever since. My father titled the car in his name, and my brother will be handling the sale of the car. I have all of the records going back to day one; I even have the rectangular stainless steel key code tag, although I do not have the original window sticker. According to the Certificate of Authenticity I bought from Porsche (included in the sale) it was a special order by a California buyer who wanted a short shift kit and sport shocks on it. The car is mechanically sound and runs great. No rust. No problems. My intent with the Porsche was to make a DE/track car/daily driver while maintaining the “original” appearance of the exterior. Unfortunately I never got to take it to the track. By “original” appearance I mean all OEM parts intended for the 3.2 Carrera. The car was originally not equipped with the SC/Carrera spoiler or the chin spoiler. The second owner installed a chin spoiler but not the rear spoiler. When I took it for a test drive prior to buying, I inadvertently nailed a cat that came out of nowhere. Surprisingly, the cat survived, but the valance was dented during the ordeal. After I bought it I replaced the original valance with fog lights and fog light holes with a fog light delete valance and a new chin spoiler. Other changes I made: · Completely removed the air conditioning, aluminum AC bracket on motor, blower fan and box, flapper boxes, foot well blowers and the heater blower on the motor. (I was planning on fabricating an electrically controlled heating system from 993 parts but I moved and never got the chance.) · Changed the US rear bumper to a European bumper. · The first owner put chromed wheels on it; I replaced them with the Guards Red wheels. Guards Red wheels were actually available as a factory option, although these wheels originally were black. One of the back wheels has some road rash on the rim, but it spun okay on the machine and seems to have no issues. I got a good deal on the wheels because they were painted Guards Red and the dismantler was having trouble selling them because everybody wanted black ones. · Replaced the door panels with leather RS style panels. I used the durable aluminum Appbiz RS bezels instead of the famously junky plastic OEM ones. · Installed 2 matching Corbeau one piece fiberglass seats, approved for PCA events. · Installed 2 racing seat mounts for the Corbeau seats and 2 Crow seat belt harnesses, also approved for PCA events. · Installed a custom roll bar (welded in place at corners) with an integral harness mount. · Replaced the lower dash with a one-piece Rennline black powder coated aluminum part. · Replaced cracking dash with a fiberglass GT Racing dash. · The original gas tank was leaking along the entire front edge and I replaced it with a modified OEM tank that had the spare tire recess cut out and replaced with a flat piece. The modified tank holds 100 liters / 27 gallons. The tank was supposed to look like the 1987 Ruf CTR tank, but it ended up not being as photogenic. With the higher capacity the fuel gauge reads lower than it actually is. · I replaced the steel wheeled collapsible spare tire with a 17” non-collapsible tire mounted on an aluminum wheel I sourced from a Boxster. · Currently there are Goodyear Eagle GT tires on the front (205/55 R16) and rear (225/50 R16), which are less than six months old. · Replaced the windshield with a clear, un-tinted one. · Upgraded the headlights from the sealed beam type to the nicer looking H4 headlights and had the rings painted Guards Red. I also had the internal steel diffusers bead blasted and ceramic coated a silver color to prevent them from becoming rusty and looking bad through the headlight lenses. · I bought a new black RS carpet set and carpet deck cover from Appbiz, although I didn’t install it because the left side of the car leaks a little bit into the left rear seating area when it rains and I wanted to address this issue before I installed the carpet. It is either leaking from the rear window gasket or the sunroof drain. It has been garaged for the over 4 years at my father’s house so it is a non-issue for me. The carpet set is included with the sale. · The original tool kit is included but I don’t know if it’s complete. · The leaking water damaged the headliner so I removed it. It has not been replaced. · I installed a DME interrupter switch under the driver’s seat to make it a little more difficult to steal. Some additional information about the car: · The first owner had a minor accident that damaged the driver’s side door. The outside surface of the door was damaged but the inside structure of the door was okay, so it was just re-skinned. It fits a little tighter now and you have to close it a little harder. · The third owner, a pediatrician in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was stopped at a traffic light and somebody hit the back of the car. A detailed notation by him is included with the paperwork and a photocopy of the police accident paperwork is also included. The accident was minor and the car benefited from it by being spiffed-up a bit: it got a new red “Porsche” reflector piece, some new trim and a partial re-spray. The doctor installed black vinyl stone guards on the back fenders and when the body shop touched-up the paint and blended the clear coat in they didn’t remove the stone guards. I removed the vinyl stone guards because I thought they detracted from the appearance of the car, and they were not correct. When I removed the stone guard on the passenger side I noticed a very subtle edge where the clear coat was sprayed around it. · The paint and clear coat finish is decent; you are not going to win any Concours trophies with it, but it is nothing to be ashamed of either. There are some chips to the gas tank lid, one of the headlight rings, the edge of the trunk lid. There is also a noticeable clear coat drip in the driver’s side rain gutter near the rear window. Notes: Vehicle for sale in "as is" condition by the listing agent with no warranty either expressed or implied. Listing agent will cooperate with prospective buyer(s) to make vehicle available for pre-purchase inspections at any local (NE Atlanta) shop(s) that have experience with Porsches at the prospective buyer's expense. Vehicle can be inspected at other mutually acceptable locations. Although vehicle is listed only on eBay, if someone makes an acceptable offer after inspecting vehicle, this listing will be terminated early. I really want my garage space back! eBay does not offer a "Best Offer" choice in this style of auction format. I may post any questions/answers for the benefit of all interested parties.
