Vehicle Detail

1969 Porsche 911T – Fully Restored – Rare Find! For auction is this two-owner 1969 Porsche 911T with 71k miles. My father-in-law, who is a mechanical engineer, bought this car in 1974 and spent years personally restoring it. The pictures and details reveal that it isn’t your typical rust bucket with high miles. This car is way above average! The man meticulously recorded every repair/restoration he made and every penny he spent. He also recorded every fill-up, cost, gals pumped, MPG, oil added, etc. You’ll be amazed at the documents I have showing the history of this car during his ownership. The car is in great cosmetic shape. It is painted a beautiful plum color. There are a few light surface scratches from the cloth cover that can be buffed out. I see no scratches down to the metal. There is no visible rust anywhere, including the entire undercarriage, interior, trunk, and engine compartment. There are three dents I can see – one dime-sized dent on each door and one on the left rear quarter panel. See pictures. None of the dents have paint loss. The interior is nearly immaculate. There are no cracks or worn spots on the seats or floors. There is a 2”crack on the dashboard to the right of the instrument panel. See pictures. The car has been stored covered in a garage for the past 10 years. It was properly prepared for long-term storage. I recently bought two new batteries, added oil and gas, and attempted to start the car. It cranked fine but did not fire. (Note: The new batteries are close in size to the old ones, but they are too big to fit into the battery compartments. I don’t know if smaller batteries can be found. If not, a modification is needed to secure these new batteries within the trunk area. Assuming the buyer will have this car shipped to their location via a flat bed truck, I will have the batteries transported on the flat bed, not in the trunk.) I took the car to a top-notch import car service shop for a diagnosis and to get it running. I also asked them to give me an honest assessment of the car’s condition. The fuel pump was inoperable and was replaced. The oil sump cover seal and the two lower valve cover gaskets were replaced, likely dried up due to the car sitting so long. The points were replaced. The car now runs good. The import shop said the car is mechanically sound, with the exception that when trying to increase speed on the highway, the car doesn’t accelerate well. The repair shop’s opinion is that the carburetor jets are clogged due to the long period of inactivity, and that the spark plug wires should probably be replaced. I opted to leave that repair to the eventual buyer. In that shop’s opinion, this car would likely run at near-peak performance if those repairs were done. The owner of that shop said that based on a 10-point scale, the condition of this car is easily an 8 or 9. However, please develop your own opinion. This car is available to see personally in Indianapolis, IN. I believe I have provided plenty of pictures to show the car’s condition. If you would like pictures of any other area of the car, email me that request and I’ll accommodate you as best as I can. Feel free to ask any questions you want before bidding. If you want to send your own mechanic to evaluate the car at your expense, I’ll accommodate them. I have a pdf file of a story written for his car club by the owner about the car restoration. If you want to see that file, email me with that request. Payment A non-refundable $2,000 USD deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of auction through PayPal. Full payment must be made within 4 business days of the end of auction. We’ll accept cash, cashier's check, or direct transfer to bank account (any fees incurred by buyer). Shipping Cost of shipping the car to buyer’s location is the sole responsibility of the buyer. I will coordinate as needed with the buyer and their shipper of choice. It is up to the buyer to arrange and pay for shipping. For shipping quotation purposes, the car is located in zip code 46228. Terms of Sale Sale is final. No returns or refunds are allowed. No bidder may retract a bid made during the sale for any reason. Any bidder may hire and independently pay for a mechanic to inspect the vehicle in Indianapolis, IN. I will accommodate that inspection. Good luck in bidding on this really nice restored 1969 Porsche 911T!!
