Vehicle Detail
1983 Porsche 911SC 3.0 VIN: WPOAAO91XDS122078 This all-original, low mileage 911 had been owned by the same person since 1989. It has 53,349 original miles, has never been modified in any way, and runs and drives perfectly. It is equipped with the factory power sunroof, air conditioning and the turbo “Whale Tail” options. 1983 is the last year of the 3 liter 911s known for their good performance and rock solid reliability. This particular car has been meticulously maintained and is in truly wonderful condition. The almost-all-original paint is nearly perfect except for some small rock chips on the front spoiler and some other minor imperfections, which have been touched up. There is no rust I can find. Cosmetically and mechanically, the car is well sorted and needs nothing. The fuel-injected engine operates and performs flawlessly; Does not smoke; Starts with one turn of the key, accelerates strongly, and is extremely, tight and solid. According to the previous owner, it has a new clutch and new synchros in the transmission, because unlike many other Porsches of similar age I drove, this car shifts perfectly and smoothly through all gears. The Suspension, Brakes and steering also operate perfectly. The tires are in like-new condition. So are the original 16” Porsche Fuchs wheels. Over all, the car rides, drives and handles like a much newer car than the 30-year-old classic that it is. The interior is also in excellent shape with no tears or excessive wear. The seats are covered in new supple leather and feel very soft-to-touch and comfortable. The dash has no cracks and the headliner, door panels and the carpet are also in excellent shape. There is a very small corner crack by the radio (see photo), which can be remedied when it comes time for someone to update the radio. I had an interior expert look at it and was told that the small piece can be easily fixed or replaced depending on how picky I wanted to get! The doors have that special Ping when they shut and all instruments and gauges including the clock are operational. Because of the unusually cold spring here, I have not tested the air conditioner for temperature. One point worth mentioning…. There is a Carfax report from August of 1987. The previous owner didn’t know about it and could not find the damage, when I inquired. I could not find it either. So, I had a Porsche restoration specialist look at it and they told me that there had been a small fender bender involving the driver side, rear fender that must have been the source of the report. It is obvious that it was meticulously repaired at that time since there is no sign of any work even 26 years later. Please inspect the photos. So, why am I selling it? I had been looking for an early 911 and wasn’t finding a good one at the price level I was willing to pay. Then I saw this car and because of its condition and the low miles decided to buy it. I have no reservation what so ever, about keeping it. My only reason for selling is that a few weeks ago a particular 1973 MFI 911, I had been eying for a very long time, became available and I just couldn’t pass it up. If I could, I would keep both cars, but I’m afraid that’s not possible… These Air-cooled Classic Porsches are highly reliable Sports cars and keep appreciating in value and this low-mileage car, especially, will make a great investment for someone who can actually drive and enjoy it for years without losing any money. This car is offered "As Is, Where Is", with no warranties, expressed or implied. The descriptions and the photos are limited to my non-professional knowledge and experience. Please consider the age of the car and the photos carefully as you bid. And, ask all your questions before bidding. Unfortunately, I have no service records or history other than my email communication with the previous owner, which I will gladly make available. He had the car for 25 years and regrettably, couldn’t locate the receipts. The car does come with the owner’s manual, jack and the tool kit. $1,000 deposit on PayPal is due upon close of the auction. The full remaining payment in Cashiers Check or Wire Transfer is due prior to release of the vehicle. Obviously, the buyer is responsible for prompt arrangement and payment of shipping. Thank you and Good luck. On May-19-13 at 18:00:46 PDT, seller added the following information: P.S. The Air Conditioning Compressor is missing. However, the bracket and the closed-off hose are present. My apologies for not realizing that earlier.
