Vehicle Detail
1963 Corvair Monza Coupe Good running Corvair Monza that spent most of its life in California. It has a nice running 102 HP engine, with Powerglide automatic transmission. Solid rust-free floors, trunk, crossmembers, and jacking points make this car an excellent candidate for restoration. It was assembled at the Oakland, California assembly plant in January 1963, the last year Corvairs were produced at that facility. Oakland-built Corvairs are rather scarce, accounting for less than 9% of total production. As you can see in the pictures, the door panels are a little shabby, but the rest of the interior is very nice. Only the cardboard kick panels and sun visors are missing. On the exterior, the paint is faded, and the body has a few bumps and bruises, but the only significant rust I can find is on the lower front panel where bondo was used to repair a dent a long time ago. The factory tinted windshield is in good shape, and the car is equipped with the optional wire wheel covers. I drive this car regularly when the weather is dry. The engine runs smooth, the trans shifts good, and both rear wheel bearings are quiet. The gas gauge works properly, and so do the headlights, dash lights, dome light, rear tail lights, turn signals, and brake lights. It is perfectly drivable as is, but the horn and radio don't work, the speedometer cable needs to be replaced, and the engine leaks oil. This Corvair won't win any trophies the way it is, but if you want a solid car to build on, please give it your consideration. The title is in my name, and free of liens. If you're adventurous enough to try driving the Corvair home long distance, I'm located 90 miles east of Chicago, and there is non-stop train service from there to my door.
