1964 El Camino Malibu CustomRare and desirable. There was no "Super Sport" or "SS" in 1964. This was it.This resto-mod was completed in 2011 and was simply done right! Exterior. The exterior is jaw-dropping. Finished in two-stage Solar Yellow with three coats of clear that have been professionally color sanded to a show finish. The body is straight as an arrow and all problem areas were addressed in metal by a master bodyman. The entire body was block sanded prior to paint. It does not disappoint. The bed has a professionally sprayed Linex bedliner. The chrome is stunning, almost every piece of exterior trim has been replaced or replated, to include the bed rails, grille, and bumpers. The glass is unblemished and has been tinted for just the right resto-mod look. Brand new tires wrap 15 inch Torq Thrust wheels. The aggressive stance of this car makes it a stand out on cruise-in nights. Underneath, this car has been professionally undercoated and is as clean as up top. You'll notice details like new taillight lenses, seals, and hardware throughout the vehicle. Interior. The interior is super clean. The black leather heated, power Infiniti seats make driving this El Camino a comfort. Door panels, headliner, and carpet are new. Floor pans are rock solid. The dash has been left uncut for you to finish off to your personal preference in audio. I don't cut a vintage dash. The paint on the interior is just as impressive as the exterior. It shows some keychain wear and a slight bit of imperfection and cracking on the driver's door from use. With the exception of the fuel gauge, all gauges and lenses are functional and clean. The billet steering wheel connects to a tight steering box for a solid ride. It feels right. Drivetrain. Power comes from a L82 350 V8 from a later model Corvette. It is mated to a durable 5 speed manual transmission. Under the hood, this El Camino is clean, simple, and tastefully upgraded. Reliable starts come from an HEI ignition and Edelbrock four-barrel carburator with an electric choke which sits atop an aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold. Air com,es through a high-end Edelbrock finned aluminum air cleaner, which perfectly complements the Mickey Thompson finned aluminum valve covers. Dual exhaust and a throaty rumble are provided by headers, high-flow mufflers, and rolled chrome tips under the rear bumper. For performance and safety, the brakes have been completely rebuilt with a new master cylinder, calipers, drums, and pads. The Verdict. This El Camino resto-mod isn't so perfect that you won't drive it. It will make you proud at shows or on the street on nice weekends. It turns heads everywhere it goes. People ask about it and want to see under the hood. It's still raw like 1964, but it's tight and refined with all of the new components and upgrades.
