In 1983 the GTS cars wore the GT badge) Everything is factory stock with these exceptions> Factory radio replaced with Pioneer AM/FM/CD/MP3 with Aux-In and remote.> Front and rear bumpers painted gloss black to match flares (They are originally matte black)> Chrome exhaust tip I purchased this Celica last fall with every intention of keeping it for a long time as evident from the personal license plates I bought for the car. I purchased it from the original owner family. The carfax shows multiple registrations but it all within the same family. They loved the car and garaged it since new. The car was repainted in the original color but I'm not sure of the timing. The paint has a great shine. The bumpers were also painted gloss black to match the flares. It looks so natural that I thought it was factory paint, both the brown and the black, until I spotted some evidence of the respray. In my time with the car I have given it some mechanical attention. It passed safety and emissions inspection easily. I have put over 2,000 miles on it in the past few months. It starts, stops, and rides great. The 22RE engine is well known for reliability. This could be your daily driver or a fair weather toy. I have achieved typical fuel economy of 26mpg with a peak of 30mpg. Shown below is a photo of the Celica in this listing (Foreground) next to a near identical '83 Celica with original paint (Background). You can clearly see that paint on this Celica is shiny and not faded. If you drive this Celica you can expect it to start and stop reliably, the engine runs smooth, and the steering is tight. The tires are nearly new. The car leaks absolutely no fluids and consumes no oil. This is a car you can enjoy everyday with no additional immediate investment necessary. I drive the car regularly and wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long journey tomorrow if necessary. That said if you want to preserve its beauty and functionality there are a few minor issues which you may want to address. Minor known issues> Being a Midwest car it has some rust. The worst of it is the rear section of the rocker panels on both sides. Otherwise there is minor bubbling, no bigger than a dime, in a few places.> The front air dam has a small piece broken out of it. > The mud flaps are not a perfect fit, and at least one has a broken mounting tab. They are all secure but not snug against the body.> The top of the rear seats are sun faded (due to the car being a hatchback).> There is a crack on the top of the gauge surround. This piece can be replaced independently of the dash if you can source it. > The air conditioning is an R12 system and is not charged. I have not attempted to charge it and the original owner had not charged it in years. If you plan to charge it I would expect that it will require more repairs than a simple charge, but I have no idea how extensive. If this is a significant issue for a potential buyer I will gladly have it inspected.> Power antenna is stuck in the up position. The motor is disconnected due to a kink at the base of the antenna. Furthermore the power antenna would not function properly with the aftermarket radio unless an external switch were installed. I have high resolution photographs of all of these issues. Please contact me and I will send you a link to a gallery. Enjoy the rest of the photos!
