Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 2004 candy black cherry Honda Rune with 7,067 miles on it. This bike does have the chrome wheel package and the pulled back handle bars. NOTE: In 2004 these were options but in 2005 these were standard equipment because it proved to be the more desirable set up. If you’ve never experienced this 6-cylinder, 1832cc engine from Honda, you’re in for a treat. At idle, it sounds perfectly tame and is absolutely vibration free. Get on the throttle and it sounds like you just rammed a red-hot poker up a gorilla’s backside. There are a couple of minor cosmetic flaws that are typical for a bike that is not a trailer queen and I show these in the photos. The paint on the Corbin trim tab fairing has a crack, likely from impact with road debris while riding. The chrome finish on the exhaust heat shield (right side) is beginning to bubble a bit. There is a small scuff on the rear fender (right side). The stick-on letters “D” and “A” of HONDA (right side above the exhaust outlet) have come unstuck and are currently littering the side of some highway somewhere. No major dings or dents…just surface imperfections. Other than that, the bike is in amazing, head-turning condition. People at traffic lights gawk at the bike, jaw low with the occasional spot of drool emerging from the corner of their mouth. When you arrive to the gas station, you’d better not need to pee too badly because you’re not going to get to the rest room without first answering a few “what the hell kind of bike is that?!” questions. Now, let’s get to the details: Year: 2004 VIN: 1HFSC53J74A000083 Model: NRX1800EB Mileage: 7,067 (this value is accurate as of 13-April-2013 but I still ride so it may have a couple hundred more miles on it by the time it sells) This bike has over $6,000.00 of aftermarket upgrades making it a $32,000.00 vehicle when it rolled off the showroom floor! Corbin aftermarket additions: Smuggler tail/trunk = $3,495 2-up heated Rumble seat = $699 Trimtab fairing = $1,399 Details at: http://www.corbin.com/honda/runemenu.shtml Rivco aftermarket additions: Billet aluminum passenger floorboards = $430 Details at: http://www.rivcoproducts.com/products/product.php?productid=187&cat=360&page=1 Other: Chrome plate covers = $249 In the attached photos, this is a cosmetic plate rearward of the valve covers, just above the foot pegs that helps “finish the look”. The heated seat is particularly nice…it really helps mitigate the chill on those otherwise brisk days. The trimtab fairing is also a great add on. You can crank the fairing low for low speed, around town cruising. Hit the highway at 75mph and dial it up to a taller stance so you’re not taking the wind directly in your chest and helmet (also keeps your face shield clear of bugs). Stock Runes have ZERO cargo carrying capability so the smuggler tail with trunk is great for holding your flat tire kit, and other goodies. And since this bike is an absolute chick magnet…you’re going to need that 2-up seat. Price Justification: Runes without the chrome wheels are selling in the $15,500.00 range. Here is an example from April 06, 2013: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-HONDA-RUNE-STUNNING-BEAUTY-/290889478072?_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&forcev4exp=true Runes with the chrome wheels sell for $17,500.00. Here is an example from April 06, 2013: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-Honda-Rune-Illusion-Blue-Chrome-Wheels-Low-Miles-/281085995344?_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&forcev4exp=true Bikes with a couple of added options go for $18,500.00+. Here is a Rune with 24,500 miles and Corbin Fleetliner bags (retail $1,899.00) that fetched $18,555 and I’m not ever sure if that bike had the chrome wheels! (April 10, 2013): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-Honda-Valkyrie-Rune-For-Sale-/271185732807?_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&forcev4exp=true As you know, my Rune has chrome wheels and $6,000.00 of aftermarket equipment which one could argue easily justifies a $20,000 value. This is a NO RESERVE auction with an opening bid of $17,995.00, which in my mind is a great deal for the buyer (considering the above three examples). Of course, even if the bidding were to approach $20K, you’d still be getting $6K of added options for only $2.5K in cost to you! At this price, you could flip the bike in a few years for the same price you paid for it! Do not hesitate to submit any questions and I’ll reply ASAP. Buyer must arrange and pay for shipment or you can pick it up in person. Local airport code here is BZN and I'd be happy to pick you up at the airport (in my car, so you don’t have to ride “bitch”). Or, if you live within about 1,000 miles or so of Bozeman, Montana, I could be persuaded into delivering the bike to you...I'm always up for a ride! Of course, I'd need a one-way plane ticket to get back home and I'd ask that the buyer pay for that ticket...which is a pretty good deal as that one-way ticket back to Bozeman, Montana would likely be less than half of what a trucking company will charge you for delivery of the bike...not to mention the 6 to 8 weeks you'll wait!
