Vehicle Detail

I have owned this car since 2005. I've taken up flying, so it is time for the car to go to make way for an airplane. This car runs and drives great. It looks really good from 10 feet, but when you get closer you can see scratches, cracks, chips, pitting on the chrome, etc. I bought this car to drive and I've driven it all over the place. When the weather is nice and 1 passenger, this is the car I prefer to drive. When I moved from the DC area to Atlanta I drove down in 100 degree weather without an issue (except it was hot since there is no AC). When I was between cars, I used it as my daily driver for nearly two months…It drives straight, stops straight and cruises at 65 all day long....I have kept up with the maintenance and have replaced worn parts (water pump, starter, steering box, brakes, wire harness, etc….almost everything works, for example speedo, tach, clock, wipers, lights, blinkers, lighter, fan, heat, etc. The odometer and radio don’t work. The engine in the car now (and when I bought it) is an Edelbrock 350. I have the original motor on a stand. I do not have any history about the car or the motor, but you can see from the pictures that the numbers match. I did some research on the web as I was typing this up. It is not a rare car. About 22,000 64’s were made. However, this is originally Red and a Convertible, there were only 2,000-3,000 of those combinations…(I looked those details up on the web based on the numbers from the pictures for what that’s worth…). You can bet nearly 50 years later there are not too many left with matching numbers…If you want a Corvette you can drive now and restore later, this is one you can. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Here are the numbers typed out from the pictures since they are hard to see…and with the Frame and Engine decoded based on what I could figure out from the web. 40867S106858 (from my GA Registration…I have a current GA registration/Tag, but as you can see I keep my 1964 Virginia tag on it…so far the police have been understanding J) Style 64 867 4020 Body (1964 Corvette Convertible) Trim Std 923AA Paint (Riverside Red Exterior) Frame# 40867 S 106858 Character Description 4 1964 08 Corvette 67 Convertible S Assembled in St. Louis, MO 106858 Production Sequence Engine # 4106858 FII26RC Character Description 4 1964 106858 Production Sequence (matches the frame #) F Flint, MI 11 November 26 26th RC 327 250 manual transmission On Apr-21-13 at 14:02:35 PDT, seller added the following information: I had a few people ask about the suspension/frame/rust. As far as I know the suspension and frame are fine. (I am an accountant, not a mechanic) Keep in mind it is nearly 50 years old, it doesn't handle like a new car. I looked underneath and it is dirty/rusty looking (see the new pictures at the link below). It actually looks like it has a rust prevention treatment. I haven't done anything to the frame in the 8 years I've owned it. There was another question about the driver side gap on the hood and convertible cover in one of the pictures...Both were open for the picture, that was the reason for the gaps. I took another picture with the cover/door/hood closed so you can see they line up ok. Ebay limits me to 24 pictures so I have loaded them all up on dropbox and you should be able to see them at this link...there were also some more from yesterday that I added as well.https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8mmdz1itnmorsd9/Nyy-eBligU
