Vehicle Detail
Beautiful First Edition Fiero SE 2M4 with 4-Speed. This was the first mass-produced mid-engine car in U.S. history. This car was lovingly maintained by its original owner for 28 years before I got it, I've done my best to continue that tradition. It's spent its life in a small town surrounded by wide open roads, and driven an average of 3500 miles a year. There is so little wear and tear on the car, even the seats feel like they've never been sat in. It drives like new, and has none of the mechanical issues that plague so many super low mile cars that sit in storage. It has always been garaged, but regularly driven on smooth country roads in nice weather with fresh fuel. The undercarriage and cradle are completely rust-free, and so are the trunk corners and battery area. Other than an occasional oil drip when parked, there are no mechanical issues. It runs and shifts flawlessly, the brakes stop evenly with no pulling or sticky calipers, and the NOS 1990 Pontiac wheels are fitted with a newer set of 16" Cooper CS-4's. The Air Conditioning was professionally converted to R-134a in August of 2000, and it blows ice cold. The retractable headlights operate perfectly, and so does the remote rear deck release. All interior/exterior lights, horn, heater, and wipers work properly. The aftermarket radio/cassette sounds great, and both headrest speakers are crystal clear. I had a new starter installed last year, and added a new battery at the same time. The engine runs smooth and quiet, and has had no overheating issues, ever. A few cosmetic issues are as follows: Exterior: The original paint is incredible for its age, but a couple of nicks have been touched up over the years, and they could have been done better (see pictures). Interior: The headliner shows slight discoloration around the perimeter of the sunroof. The sunroof doesn't seem to leak, so perhaps it got left open in the rain, or the seal was replaced at some point. There is also a tiny cigarette burn on the passenger seat, but it's too small to capture with the camera, and does not penetrate the fabric. Thirty year old cars in this condition don't just happen by accident. This car has been cared for by responsible people, and it shows. If you want a special First Edition Fiero you found it. If you want to drive it cross-country, it's ready to go. South Bend is our closest airport, and if you'll give me the 30 mile ride home, I'll pick you up there. Otherwise Chicago's airports are only 90 minutes away, and there is non-stop train service to my door. Thank you for looking. Please call with any questions or requests for additional pictures. (561) 3 seven 1 - zero 9 five seven. ps- A few years ago I got socked with a $4,000 transmission rebuild on a '94 Jaguar that had only 28,000 miles, because the trans coolant lines corroded from infrequent use, allowing anti-freeze to seep into the transmission. Two years later I spent a few thousand more on an '85 Fiero with only 29,000 miles, because of cylinder wall and valve guide damage that resulted from being run infrequently, and on old gas. That was followed by overheating problems caused by corroded coolant components, and sticky brake calipers caused by non-use. Finally I learned the lesson taught to me by my high school automotive teacher 40 years ago. "DON'T buy cars that have been sitting around". God Bless Tyler Shipman, his family, and the entire Fiero Community who supported him. I'm old enough to be Tyler's grandfather, but he made me proud of America in more ways than I can ever express. http://www.tylerstoy.com/engine/swf/player.swf?url=../../data/video/tylermemoriumlrg.flv&volume=55 On Apr-20-13 at 05:08:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Question from Member: Can you please send me close up pictures of the sides of the car. thnx On Apr-22-13 at 08:05:31 PDT, seller added the following information:
