Vehicle Detail
1972 Porsche 914- This is a 1972 Porsche 914, you can buy her for a fraction of what was spent on her.!! The pictures will do the talking…. The reserve barely covers the paint job. With the beautiful driving weather ahead, this car draws attention whether is speeding down the road or just parked!! It is a very presentable documented from The Porsche Club. And in 1972, there were 21,579 Porsches manufactured and this one is number 729 off production.! This is a 914 Porsche 1.8 L in bright torch PPG red. This is a 3 year total rebuild by employed Porsche mechanic that took this car down to bare metal. I am not a Porsche aficionado but have been selling over the past year or so my late father’s collection of autos. He spent over $100,000 on his car collection which included 1938 Packard to 1961 Lincolns and then 3 TVRs and now what I wanted to keep for myself this Porsche 914. There is quite a following of experts that know everything about these mid engine, “engine in front”, of the rear wheel. It is a car that most people don’t know what year Porsche it is. I get looked at and people would say, “is that the new Porsche?” With the engine in front of the rear axle, it is a very balanced auto, corner grabbing roller coaster ride. This 1972, 914 is one of the most desirable 914’s chrome bumper, pre pollution mandated horsepower robbing 914 Porsches built. With 1974 being the year pollution control equipment/ catalytic converters etc. This is a totally rebuilt engine full aspirated imported Dell ‘orto carburetor setup with dual exhaust, new brakes, new shocks, powder coated engine area in mind blowing powder coated purple, it is a real looker! As you can see $1000s were spent on her. And sadly when completed, it was driven sparingly, no out of state trips, and dry weather driven only and garage kept always. I am not that well versed in all that went into her, window and interior, drive train, bumpers, all weather stripping, everything came out, and taken down to bare metal. No battery area issues, but the battery was relocated to front trunk area in plastic battery box specially made for the relocation to a more sensible location! I can only talk about what I see not knowing the total money spent by my father who kept few records as to avoid issues with mom. It has new tires, and also the front bumper guards come with it, as does the original seatbelts if you wish to change to those. It does have full immobilizing cut off key switch mounted behind the rear window area so she wont get stolen! ( see photo) This is a high 28 to 30 miles per gallon 5 speed with overdrive 1972-- 914. Also this 914 comes under classic car status. And because of this my father had full coverage and full liability insurance costing less than $100 per year in New Jersey!!! Go find this with a Corvette or Camaro. So if you are looking at 914s on eBay then you probably know more about them than I do. And with a new paint job down to bare metal PPG Red with clear coat to new seats and door panels, new dash, all gauges working, and all lights working , and turn signals working and of course this does not have AC as few 914 did, I have no idea why anyone would want AC as it can be driven with the top off and placed in the trunk like a convertible. This Porsche has under gone ground up replacement of what was ever needed and improved. And only Mobil 1 synthetic oil used. She is presently stored inside As always in a warehouse that is climate controlled, where the Lincolns and Packard were also kept and now sold on eBay to happy buyers and myself having 100% positive feedback. If you are the lucky winner, keep in mind the following: This vehicle has a very, very , very LOW reserve, I am letting it go for this low Reserve because we presently have the lease up on the storage of my dad’s vehicles, the storage fees are too high and we are just trying to get these vehicles sold as to simply our lives. This Porsche was driven last year and placed in storage, however when it was last driven, it likes to go fast. The idle on this car would need to be checked out as the Dellorto carbs are running somewhat rich. But it is nothing that a good mechanic that knows of these Porsche could certainly remedy. And because of this reason, the car would need to be towed to the the desired location and worked on. We just do not want to spend any more money on her because the new owner might want to switch out the carbs to Webers or just adjust these Dellortos. It is up to the new owners . Which is why we would be glad to have you come look at it or we could send you more pics if necessary. Additonally, I took a video of this car before it went into storage for the winter and you can see it on the following website:porsche914.net (It will take about 1 or 2 minutes to load this video, please be patient. Thank you)If anyone would want any more information, or any more pictures of this auto please send us a message on eBay and we will send off any more pics you may want.Quite frankly, you would be getting a great vehicle for the low reserve that it is set at. ($4,500 low reserve) Anyone, willing to come and check this vehicle out also please do so and we can set up a time. This is not an auto to put the kids in and drive across states. It has 4 point seat belt setup ( see photo) and the original seatbelts can be provided as well. Well, it is truly a very pretty uncomplicated 914 that is great on gas and turns heads wherever it goes.!! Oh yes, it is somewhat loud with the dual 4 pipe exhaust and not the original banana muffler ( Thank God ) It is from 1972 and not a new $100,000 Porsche and as such is being sold as is, no dents, no cracks, no accidents. Well, thank you for looking and Good Luck in bidding…!!!
