I have a 1973 Honda 250 Elsinore up for auction. Frame number CR250M1001761 engine number CR250ME1001818. It is running condition, I found it this winter in a guys dry heated basement, it had sitting down there for 20 plus years! It was his grandma's house that he bought and it was her late husbands bike. I looks like it was not raced just trail rode. Thats about all he knew about it, he was not a bike guy. It looks like it is all original except the front number plate. I was amazed all i had to do is clean out the float bowl and it started right up. Has good compression. Things like the tires still hold air but i would replace them they are old. The seat cover has a couple of tears but is original. The tank has some dents in it also the stock expansion chamber has some small dents in it. Has the stock original muffler intact they are hard to find. Has original fenders and air box, the foam air filter will need replacing. Like I said earlier it runs and shifts thru all gears ok, the clutch seems to work fine. I have not rode this bike only once since winter is just getting over with up here.I would completely go over the bike if you plan on racing it. Whats neat about it its so original and unmolested piece of motorcycle history being honda's first true motocross bike! Some other things i have noticed about it, the sprockets and chain are worn some, has hard to find chain guides and front sprocket cover intact. Swingsarm bushings are a little loose. It has some scraps and sratches from use and age but that gives its true petina. I have not spray bombed this bike in anyway to do this would be bad, leave it to a professional restorier. I have tried to think of everything that i know about it. If I have forgot someting please email me and i will get back to you or post it. I leave it up to you to find a shipper. I will deliever it to a frieght company in grand rapids for a small price to cover my time and gas. I have a friend who goes to goshen indiania daily hauling travel trailers he said he would haul it that far for free but you would have to meet him and be punctugal not making wait. Also it does not have any paperwork, back then in michigan they did not issue street title paperwork with off-road motocross bikes. I can give u a bill off sale if u want. I can store it in my fathers barn for a while for you but I do not want it there for along time because I do not want to be responsible for it. Also when I took the pictures it was snowing out so you can see it on the tankand fenders. I guess thats it, hope it goes to a good home!. Thanks for looking Bruce.
