Vehicle Detail

This is Schultz. He’s named after the lovable Sergeant Schultz in Hogan’s Heroes. He’s a 1997 Volkswagen Cabrio Highline with 173,318 miles and I am the proud original owner. He’s been a great little car and has been loved and extremely well taken care of, but as a homeowner I really need more cargo space for all those trips to Home Depot. So, it’s time to find a new owner who will love Schultz too. All preventative maintenance has been done on time by VW dealers with thorough records kept and can be provided. And I’ve been vigilant about identifying and quickly fixing any issues. Recent new parts includeTiming/ribbed belt, v belt/serpentine belt and water pump (preventative)Crank position sensorBattery (preventative)RadiatorFront strut mountsFront lower control arm bushingsSteering lineTransmission leak thoroughly investigated and many possible leak sources replaced, including the actual cause. New parts include: fill tube seal, drain plug, transmission pan, transmission differential cover gasket and oil pan gasket Features include:Automatic transmissionAM/FM stereo and cassette (factory)Fog lightsGlass back window with defrostAir conditioning - coldPower windows and door locksPass-through rear seatFront wheel driveRoll barDriver and passenger front airbagsTemporary spare tireAlarmCruise control - not workingOriginal owners manual set and 2 keysClean titleNon-smoker The manual roof has no leaks or tears and has been washed with Woolite (for fine washables) since I got the car. The roof has also been lubed each Spring and putting the top up/down is simple and easy. The boot to keep the roof clean and protected when the top is down is included and is in great shape. The original floor mats in the front disintegrated at about year 13 and were replaced with ND floor mats, which I will include. The back floor mats are in great shape and stain free, but the black backing is flaking off. They will be included in a bag. The carpet under the floor mats has yellowed slightly with age and there’s a 14 year old melted blue Skittle stain near the front passenger’s seat. The seats, steering wheel, shifter and emergency brake are leather. The driver’s seat developed a few worn areas over the years, which were repaired. All the other seats are in great shape with no tears or stains. The only area to show its age is the material on the driver’s door near the window, which has begun to separate from the door (see picture). Also, the driver’s seat does not tilt forward to allow access to the back seat, meaning back seat passengers will need to enter/exit through the passenger door. Schultz’s outside is in great shape with the normal rock chips and small dings that come with 16 years of driving and he’s been parked in a garage or under a carport for all 16 years. The car has not been detailed, so what you see in the pictures is what you get. There is a tiny ding on the edge of the trunk where a tree branch fell on it and a tiny bit of rust behind the front wheels (see pictures). Previous rust around the driver’s side windshield was removed at a body shop. A body shop also repaired a dent in the passenger rear panel where a pickup backed into it in a parking lot. How could he not see all this cuteness? Schultz passed the Pennsylvania state inspection and Philadelphia area emissions tests in December. The front radial tires were installed at 167,706 miles and the back radial tires were installed at 147,352 miles. The car is being sold as is with no warranties or guarantees expressed, written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any type. A $500 deposit is required from the winning bidder within 48 hours with full payment required within 7 days of the listing ending via cash, cashier’s check or PayPal. No exceptions and no returns. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup or shipping and for paying the 6% Pennsylvania sales tax and title transfer costs (est. $22.50). I’ve tried to be as thorough and up front as possible, but if you have any questions, please contact me through eBay. The car can be made available for review at Garnet VW in Glen Mills, PA. Thank you!
