Vehicle Detail

This was a drug dealers car that was ordered forfeited by the court. I am a police officer, not a mechanic so I will try to list everything I can tell tell you about it. First of all, it has sat in our impound lot for about 2 years. It was not driven during that period of time but was turned on periodically. I just replaced the battery so it is literally brand new and the engine runs very smooth. It's not leaking anything which is impressive considering how long its been over in our lot. No smoke comes out of the exhaust pipe either so the engine maybe in good repair. The rear tires hold air but will be completely deflated after about 30 days of sitting around. The fronts maintained their ability to hold air over the time but honestly, it probably needs four new tires. The pictures do not do justice for how beat up the exterior is. This thing has dents and scratches almost everywhere which aren't captured that well in the pictures above. There is a steel plate thing bolted to the rear bed. I do not know if that is there because there is a hole in the bed or the owner just wanted to put it in for what ever reason a drug dealer would want to modify their vehicle. All the exterior and interior lights work; however, I do not have the key which opens the doors. I only have a key that starts the car. The interior is just has beat up as the exterior. The center armrest wiggles as if it is broken. There looked like there once was a cup holder in the middle seat but it is missing, leaving a metal bracket sticking out. The parking brake works, but the piece of plastic you pull to release it is broken. The car is also missing the passenger side sun visor but I have it. There driver side seat is missing a lever that I believe is for lumbar support. I do not have that lever. I do not believe the drug dealer was a smoker or if he was, he did not smoke in the car because it does not smell like cigarette smoke, or any kind of other smoke you might associate with a drug dealer. Because the car is an asset seized item, I am required to follow a specific procedure on selling it. Number 1, I do not personally make any money on the vehicle but did set a reserve bid because I need to recover the costs associated with selling it. In case you are wondering, this vehicle Kelly Blue Book's (fair condition) at $5476. The reserve bid is way lower than that and I will sell this car at whatever the highest bidder determines. Number 2, you have to be willing to come to Roseville Police Department to pick up the car. This is an absolute so please do not bid if you cannot come to get it. When you do such, I will send you with the paperwork to the DMV to register the car. I cannot release the car to you until you have paperwork from the DMV showing you are the legal owner; however, there are two DMV's within 10 miles of the police department so you wont have to go to far to get to an office. You also know how the DMV can be so please be prepared to give me an afternoon or morning to complete the process. Number 3, you need to pay in cash or cashier's check which I will tell you whom to make it out to if you successfully buy the car. I will attempt to answer miscellaneous questions before you ask them. Can I test drive the car or see the car before purchase? Most likely no. Again, I am a police officer with other duty's so I cannot accommodate everyone. You can try to e-mail me but no promises. Are there hidden fees? Not that I'm aware of. I do know that the DMV will make you pay sales tax when you register the vehicle so be prepared for that. Is the car registered? This vehicle has not been registered for about two years so it does not have current registration. You should also not have to pay penalties because we prevented that when we seized the car.. Do you know the history of the vehicle? No. I know the previous owner was a fairly high level methamphetamine dealer. Form your own conclusions. Can I buy it now? No. The law does not allow me to set a buy it now feature so please don't ask.
