Vehicle Detail
1966 Mustang A code 289 Auto 3 owner CA black plate car with 102k miles with several great options: disc brakes, air conditioning (working), bench seat, and tachometer/clock (not functioning). This lovely Mustang was cared for by 1 owner from 1968 until 2012 when she passed away. I am a Realtor and the car was resting in the garage of a home I sold. My recently-retired Dad bought the car from the family and has performed some deferred maintenance on the car with our local mechanic (listed below). We have enjoyed the car tremendously, but are not using it enough to warrant keeping it. It is in great original condition with no signs of rust on the body. We believe the mileage to be 102,750 miles from new. The odometer currently shows 02753 and has turned over just once, according to the previous owner of 44 years. The car runs very well and sounds like a beast (see video below). From the family, we learned the car was bought by their mother in Laguna Beach, CA in 1968 from the original owner and the car remained in the family in Garden Grove, CA until she passed away last year. The car includes the original manual with service vouchers (none torn out), but just one other service record: 1/18/2001 Hi Tek Engine Supply did a long block rebuild at 91,542 miles. Here is a list of the work we have performed from Oct. 2012 - present: 10/26/12. A/C dryer and hose replaced, air now blows cold, carburetor adjusted. Cost: $853. 11/05/12. Power steering rack replaced. R&R Transmission with 2 year/24k mile warranty. Cost: $655. 02/26/13. Replaced heater hoses. Replaced left and right exhaust resonators. Cost: $645. 40 more photos including more underside and engine shots here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/matthewfletcher/sets/72157633060882733/ Quick video of engine revving here: http://youtu.be/97Wv56XVJ04 As you can see in the photos, there is one thumb sized dent in the hood which cracked the paint. We assume something fell on it in the garage. The paint is a re-spray from sometime in the past 20 years, we estimate. Though it looks great from 5 feet, there is evidence of some overspray, so I would honestly give the paint quality a 7 out of 10. It IS the original Sauterne Gold (green) according to the door jamb plate. Our next project on the car was going to be to clean and refresh the engine compartment and components. As you can see, the engine area is in original un-restored condition. Please contact us for any questions or to arrange a pre-purchase inspection. Here in Costa Mesa, CA, there are many reputable mechanics and enthusiasts, so take your pick.
