Vehicle Detail

I'm helping my Mom sell her beloved 1966 Volvo 122 S. This car has been in my family since 1994 and I have a very thick stack of repair bills going back to about 1992, including documentation of the engine rebuild. It has been a CA car all it's life and shows! Very little surface rust anywhere on the car, and NO rot anywhere. Car has been kept in a garage until just this past year, and even then it was at my Mom's house in Sacramento. Nice dry climate. While the 122 is an excellent starting point for any collector, it does need some attention that I frankly do not have time to give it. The most notable items in need of repair are the transmission, the steering, the brakes, and the suspension. THE BAD Transmission: Is hesitant at times to shift from 2nd into 3rd. Pretty sure it needs a rebuild, or better still I would swap it for a 4 speed manual + overdrive. I have spoken with a Volvo specialist who said he could swap in the 4 speed for $1000 total. Parts and labor included.Steering: Had the 122 inspected by same Volvo specialist and he stated the steering rack needs a rebuild.Brakes: In need of new pads for certain, probably new discs up front as well. Paint has started to chip at door edges, some rock chips here and there. Temp gauge does not work.Heater controls do not work.Stereo does not work.Do not have factory steering wheel, and aftermarket wheel pictured needs replacing.Weber carbs need tuning. Second barrel a little off when pulling away from stop. Aftermarket and thick exhaust make the car too loud for my taste. This is matter of opinion I suppose, but I prefer the stock look/setup to the hot rod look/feel for this car. This car is not a good choice for spies or ninjas. Do not have factory steel wheels. Again, a subjective thing. A lot of people tell me they love the fatter wheels and tires. THE GOODEngine runs great with no oil leaks, nor does it eat oil. Larger 2.0L B20 block with 1.8L B18 headVery clean interior. Seats in excellent shape, carpet and headliner too. Runs and drives without issue aside from what is described above. Weber 2 barrel carbClean and straight body with little to no rust of any kind. Just small surface rust at door corners and a couple other spots. That's it!3 speed automatic doesn't work properly. This car would be better with a standard transmission anyway in my opinion. 4 brand new tires.
