Rarely seen in the US, Cotton motorcycles have a rich heritage in England. Started in 1918 and known for TT competition victories in the 1920s, they were produced into the 1970s until the Japanese competition crippled sales of so many of today's classic English bikes. Easily recognized by its distinctive leading link front forks, this freshly restored Cotton trials bike will turn heads at your next vintage meet or in your collection. The Villiers 32A engine starts easily, runs great, and shifts well (1 up, 3 down). The top end was honed out to .020 over with new piston & rings. The fuel tank is clean & sound with new paint in the original factory scheme. New petcocks are installed. The rims and spokes look good with an older (but full tread) Pirelli and the front is a new Dunlop trials tire. The fenders are new, custom made, polished aluminum. New custom aluminum chain guard. This is an off-road competition bike with no speedometer or tach, so mileage is unknown. The saddle is not original, but works well & is in good condition (though a bit stained). When I ordered engine parts, I overlooked the missing kickstart return spring. It is not really needed since it starts on first kick when warm or 3 kicks when cold, but I will be ordering it with my next Villiers parts order for the winning bidder (simple installation). This bike is off-road only & has no title- bill of sale only. The VIN number is the engine number, the frame is not marked.
