The Saab 96 is a very unique European auto. This example is a US spec model with the 55hp Ford 1.5L V4 engine. It is front wheel drive and has a 4 speed manual column shift transmission which freewheels when not under acceleration to save fuel and wear. Needless to say it is a different driving vehicle. This car has a great look that is accented with details such as the aircraft emblem on the nose & mud gaurds reminding us that Saab cars originated from an aerospace company. This vehicle is in surprisingly good condition for its age and is completely functional & roadworthy. We have just completed a thorough inspection & performed some basic maintenance such as: oil change, transmission gear oil change, cooling system flush, tune/set timing, upgrade headlights to halogen and so forth. Due to the age, this Saab does not have to pass NC inspection however we have still verified that it would, just in case it goes to a state that does have a safety inspection. Please note that the odometer has 5 digits. It is possible and even likely that the mileage is accurate, but we cannot say for sure. As you can see from the photos, the car was originally beige and has been repainted a bright yellow. This car really stands out and just looks fun! Overall, the car is still in really good condition for the age with no serious rust issues. A little more time cleaning, trim painting etc would go a long way to making this 96 a very nice example. It seems very original & complete (except for the paint of course.) It comes with a few extras such as a new exhaust crossover pipe, service manual & a small box of spares. We have included 65 photos showing both the overall vehicle and details. Serious buyers who need additional photos can call and request specific shots if necessary. This 96 should be considered a very nice driver as it is not a restored example, but also not a project. The current owner has been keeping it inside. Currently the vehicle is in our showroom.
