Vehicle Detail
Please see the 70 or so photos of my 1964 Buick LeSabre Sport Coupe. The car is original and un-restored with 24,000 original miles. It is in great original shape and is still wearing almost all of its original Surf Green factory applied GM Magic Mirror lacquer paint The car was sold new at Broadway Garage in Newburgh, New York. The dealer emblem is still on the rear of the car, and I have the original build sheet showing it was delivered to there new. It was ordered with the 250HP 300V8 (this was the "power pack" 300 cubic inch motor with a 4 barrel carb called the 355 Wildcat as it was rated at 355 ft. lbs. of torque), automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, pushbutton AM radio, Safeguard speed warning speedometer, wheel opening moldings and tinted windshield. Here is my assessment of the car category by category. Please know that I am a long time collector of classic cars (primarily un-restored cars). Please look at my 10 year track record on Ebay with almost 900 feedbacks and 100% positive rating. This does not come by accident. It comes by being fair and honest, and treating a buyer of my car the way I would want to be treated. BODY AND PAINT: The body is super solid and nice and straight. The underside of the car shows no rust anywhere that I can detect. The paint has plenty of shine and depth. Overall when you walk up to this car and look, it throws off the appearance of a 3-4 year old vehicle. The paint appears to be all original with the exception of one area down low just in front of the driver's wheel well opening. Looks like there was a small rust spot that was fixed there many years ago, maybe the size of a ping pong ball. Looks like there is an area on the hood where some respray was fogged in as well. Some nicks and scratches of course as the paint is 48 years old. I see no evidence of any other body repair anywhere. So overall, this car really looks nice and the original paint is in very nice shape. You will be proud to pull up to a car show in this car and people will be impressed when you say its unrestored. INTERIOR: Very nice original, down to the carpet. Dash is bright. Seats have no separations or rips. There is one seam that has come apart just slightly on the drivers side door panel. The rear package tray has some sun fade. The headliner is like new. Really overall very nice original interior. CHROME: Very nice original. Front is super with no pitting or marks to speak of. Grille pot metal and headlight bezels very nice. Hood windsplit very nice. Rear is also nice but does have some scratching on the center section, like where someone a long time ago parked against something in the garage multiple times. Not bad enough that I ever thought anything needed to be done about it. MECHANICAL: The car really runs and drives very nicely. like one would expect a low mileage car to perform. Starts up easily, idles smoothly, stops straight, nice and tight. Previous owner did all new tires (the original 7.60 x 15 spare is still in the trunk, looks like it has never been out), hoses, belts etc. I rebuilt the carb a few months ago. In my opinion, it is a reliable cruiser that you can feel confident to get in and go. Lights work, horn works, radio, wipers, directionals, heater, speedometer etc all in proper working order. On Mar-02-13 at 13:24:57 PST, seller added the following information: Please note - I have throughly looked the car over after several requests to report on some specifics. There are a few more areas that appear to have had some paintwork versus my description. More than I had originally noticed. Very hard to tell on the car where the original paint stops and starts, you will need to be the judge. It has had some areas on the sides blown in. And some of the sides still appear original. Hard to tell. Looks to me that the paint on the trunk and the hood is original, and the roof was sprayed as I have detected one area of just a little overspray along the rear window molding. Dont let my change to the description swing the opinion on this car, it still looks great, its just not as much original paint as I had originally thought. In any event, it sure looks to me that the paintwork is very old. Just being honest. Please call if you want more information.
