Vehicle Detail
This is a beautiful car and I've replaced a ton of stuff on it: TiresWheelsBrakes (Master down to slaves, pads, rotors)Valve Cover GasketStarter motorIgnition coilplugsplug wiresseat beltsfront wiring harness ... the list goes on (if you want to know everything that has been replaced, send me a note and I'll reply) However, it's a 40 year old car and needs TLC and constant attention that I can no longer give it. The latest issue is with engine compression. I'm currently getting 90 to 120 psi and it needs to be considerably higher on all 4 to run right. It probably needs a ring job. The body is in good shape (minimal rust), the transmission, and suspension and peripherals are in great condition. She needs someone who can spend the time to get her back in fighting shape. THIS PART IS IMPORTANT - THE CAR IS REGISTERED IN ALABAMA - ALABAMA DOES NOT TITLE VEHICLES OLDER THAN 1975. I CAN PROVIDE THE LAST OWNER'S TITLE (I BOUGHT IT IN TENNESSEE), AS WELL AS ALL REGISTRATION INFORMATION AND A NOTARIZED BILL OF SALE - BUT NO CURRENT TITLE.On Feb-23-13 at 09:15:26 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE - 2/22/13 - At last check, the car would start with much effort, but will not run more than a minute. Just not enough compression. Keep this in mind when bidding - this will need to be fixed before it can be driven. On Feb-28-13 at 12:05:17 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE - Just to answer some questions I've received from several people - Will it run - probably not. I was able to get it started about 2 weeks ago and it ran for a minute or so but wouldn't continue. This is when I had the compression tested. It is in the shop where they did the testing (inside, out of the elements). This is also when I decided It's gone beyond my ability and resources as it needs, at minimum, a ring job, maximum, a new engine. Does it have rust. When I first got it 5 years ago, I found some surface rust on the floor panel. I treated those with rust proofing paint (under the floor mats) and it hasn't progressed. I have not seen any sign of rust anywhere else on the vehicle. I recently had about $1,000 worth of work done on the suspension at Mt. Joy Automotive in College Park, MD. They specialize in these cars so I know the work was sound. The car really is in very good shape and it has always run great, until last month. So, at this price, even with a new engine, if you're a person who loves these cars, this is a bargain. There are imperfections, but it's over 40 years old and British. That's to be expected.
