1966 MERCURY COMET428 CUBIC INCH POLICE INTERCEPTER ENGINE 4 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION...TOP LOADER NICE INTERIOR....THINGS WORK VIN 6H23Y623529MILES::: 39790 reading and I'm sure you can add another 100,000 I DO NOT SHOW CARS ON SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need a day to worship, I'm 66 years old so I need a day to rest, I like to spend the day with family. I love cars, but they are not my life! My BUY NOW PRICE IS REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I play the game a little different and it works for me! I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I'm not motived to sell the car any cheaper, I have found that most people like a real price. We are trained to bargain down car dealers, but I'm old and sell my cars for a very fair price so I don't have to play that game. Its simple, research, come look and buy the car if you like it. CAR HISTORY: Sorry, but I can not tell you a lot, I bought the car from a car restorer friend in southern Ohio, he bought it from a man in Aurora, Indiana. Both of these facts or proven by the title. IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS? "This is not a rust bucket"! The bottom side looks good, only a couple of the bottoms of the floor pans have been replace, 2 or 3 bubbles down low in the paint. IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE? None that I can find. WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR? I’m a 66 year old retired mechanic/classic car restorer/auto mechanics intructor, when I find a car I like, can sell for a fair market price and make a few bucks, I buy it fix a few things and resell. WOULD I DRIVE THIS CAR HOME? I never recommend driving a classic car home. Reason being: I test drive them like a garage would, I check things, but I don't take long road trips in them. I think the car would drive anywhere you want to, but you would be a brave person to take a long road trip in a old car until you get to know it. ENGINE: The engine is strong, it is a 428 Police Interceptor, the block casting numbers are, the heads are 390 High Performance with casting numbers, the intake is by Holley, the carburetor is by Edelbrock, the headers are full tube coated and a perfect fit. This is a fast good engine! PAINT: The paint has a good look, it is dark metallic blue, the body is straight and it has a good shine. Its not perfect, it has a few chips that have been touched up and some orange peel, it would be considered a drive and enjoy quality paint job. Not a $15,000 paint job, but presentable. Under a critical eye inspection I found 2 or 3 bubble down low. CHROME AND BRIGHTWORK: The front and rear bumper are fiber-glass and painted, this is the way lots of the old drag style cars were. The other chrome is in nice used condition. INTERIOR: Nice interior, no smells, no wear, the carpet is good, the headliner good, but it does have some wrinkles on the side turn downs. GLASS: Good clear glass, the windows roll up and down OK, the windshild is clear. FRAME: Solid frame with frame extensions, frame extensions are the metal box tubes welded between the rear frame and front frame, this stiffens the car so you don't get body twist with a high horse power engine. EXHAUST SYSTEM: The exhaust system sounds very good, it has a deep Muscle Car sound, the headers are high dollar (they are perfect fit and coated with ceramic), the pipes are large 3 inch with a H pipe, glass pac mufflers and turn downs. TRANSMISSION: Its a 4 speed manual top-loader, its one of the old tuff ones, it shifts good and the clutch is fine. REAR-END: Its good with no whines or growels, its a 9 inch with a 3.50 ratio and it is positive traction. The car has traction bars. BRAKES: Good for drums, they are drums all around. STEERING: Good, the car drives great, it is not power steering. WHEELS AND TIRES: Good BF Goodrich tires on stock rims for the Race Look. LIGHTS: They work, turn signals work, headlights work, tail lights work, brake lights work, dome light works. GUAGES: They work, the temp and oil are mounted in the dash. SPEEDOMETER is working! HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE and the panels fit? I think they open and close good and the panel fit is good for 1966. WORST THING ABOUT THE CAR: The paint is just drive and enjoy quality, it no trailer queen. BEST THING ABOUT THE CAR: It is very good mechanically, things work and its ROCKET FAST. TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just to hard! The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the car, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information. CONTACT INFO: my cell is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time or on Sunday morning or Sunday nights. Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day. cell 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many. THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”. I RESERVE TH RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET. WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my home in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights. WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, Tennessee “Athens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee. I am 66 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 42. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for almost 43 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE! MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast. PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car, this can be by PayPal, but I will not take full payment by PayPal. Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face. Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had a fake bank certified check. Option 3: The safest and fastest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire transfer. INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 64 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors are unpredictable, you might get a good one, but most of them do not impress me at all, most really don’t know what to look at, they make a good car sound bad on the report. They have to be very critical to cover their back sides and all their concerned about is getting paid. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first! TRADES: Please no trades! BOTTOM LINE: My real price is $14,850. I'm asking more on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price on the local markety and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down. PLEASE!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!! PLEASE!!!!! Come look at this vehicle. Please don’t hit the Buy Now button unless your ready to really buy it! Do your research, call me with questions, read my feed backs, I am ebay verified; this means they say I’m a real person in a real place. I WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY. Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info. Thank You, Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com IS THERE A WARRANTY? No!
