Vehicle Detail
Very clean southern car. Two previous owners. Total miles are about 180,000. The five digit odometer shows 80,211 as of today. I drive it to work (18 miles) once a week on nice days so that will change. The engine was replaced by Mercedes years ago at about 125,000. That is per the son of the second owner (who I bought it from). Apparently a gas station attendant pumped it full of gas and that was that. Insurance paid for a genuine MB engine. I can't prove or disprove this, but the records the owner kept shows the swap to a correct MB engine and the serial number is changed in the logbook. If you are looking at this ad you likely know about these cars. Clean examples that have not been modified to run WVO are hard to find. This is a bone stock car except for the missing radio. The glow plugs all warm right up and it starts easily. These older diesels are a bit smoky at times but not terrible. I have recently adjusted the valves and ran a can of sea foam through it. It could stand a set of valve seals and if I were to keep it I'd change out the injectors. Runs and drives well as-is, but you need to keep up with these or they get smoky. The four speed trans shifts as it should. Brakes are good. The matching set of tires is nearly new. No leaks and no body rust that I have noted. It is a southern car and apparently always has been. The paint is not perfect and part of the car was resprayed long ago. Not a perfect match. There is a dent in the rear deck lid but nothing significant. The interior is complete and in excellent condition. Not even a crack on the dash pad. No smells, no pets, non-smoker. A great little car for a fair price. Buy it to drive or to restore. Either way you can't lose. Feel free to call Eric at (843) 321-1648 with questions.
