Vehicle Detail

1964 Triumph TR6R Engine Number: TR6R DU9535 Frame Number: TR6R DU9535 International Six Days Trial successes in the late 1940s prompted Triumph to adopt the 'Trophy' name for their off-road-styled twins, at first for the 500cc TR5 and then for the 650cc TR6, introduced for 1956. The bigger Trophy retained its sporting character but became more of a roadster as time passed, ending up, in effect, as a single-carburettor T120 Bonneville. More tractable than the Bonnie and more economical too, the Trophy gave little away in terms of outright performance, its standing quarter-mile time and top speed being within a whisker of its twin-carb sibling's. The Trophy continued in this form when Triumph's 650cc twins changed to unit construction in October 1962. Styling and mechanical updates coincided with the Bonnie's from then onwards. On offer here is an excellent example of Triumph’s most rideable twin, the 650cc, single carb, TR6. Subject to a full restoration some years ago, but rarely used since, the bike has held up very well. At that time, the engine was “gone through” and refurbished as needed, as was the gearbox and clutch. The engine has strong, responsive power, gears all shift smoothly through an excellent clutch. All cycle parts were similarly refurbished and restored as needed, including brakes, all frame parts and electrical. The original Dunlop rims were treated to new tires. In readiment for sale, the bike was again gone through by a local marque expert, who changed fluids and adjusted everything to ensure riding pleasure. The bike is a pleasure to ride. It feels taut and handles well. Cosmetically, it looks really good. Finish on the frame is excellent, as is all the chrome and other parts. Paint on the side panels is also excellent as is the tank, apart from a couple of very minor dings in the paint, the size of a pencil tip. It comes with a clean, clear title, original tools, and two keys. Now showing only 527 miles, the bike remains in excellent all ‘round condition. A wonderful bike to ride, it continues to start easily and run well. It is a fantastic example that I would honestly ride anywhere.
