Vehicle Detail
1967 Ranchero 390 Up for auction is a 1967 Ranchero with a factory 390 and a C6 automatic. It has Power Steering, Air Conditioning and a 9 Inch rear end all original to the car. This is not a XL and do not want to mis-represent it as such. When I purchased the car I was looking for a 390 XL but was unable to find one as they are extremly rare. So I purchased this one and set out to build a XL or GT as if FORD would have built it. ( I realize there is no GT Ranchero for 1967, but you could trim the exterior and badge it to appear as one). I have included a picture of the vin plate so that you can see what it oiginally came with. I have a lot of time into it, but I must sell it as I need the space and money. I will cover the vehicle in different sections as there is a lot of information that I would like the potential buyer to know. The Engine is original to the car and has never been out to my knowledge. When I got it it had a 80`s style propane injection style set up that I quickly took off. It consisted of propane lines and a funky carburetor. I oiled the engine down and replaced the fuel pump. Then it ran for a while and I assumed that I wouldn`t have to do too much more work to it besides minor stuff ( detailing, hoses etc) Then one day I was running it and it slowly stopped running. I checked the carburetor and it had crap in it that the filter didn`t catch. So i dropped the tank and sent it out and had it re-done (coated etc and comes with the car but not installed). I then tried to run it off of a gas can and it still didn`t want to run. I pulled the intake off and realized that the lifters had collapsed and bent some of the push rods. I debated weather or not to just put lifters and pusrods in it and never did neither as I wanted to get alluminum heads and go a more performance oriented route that I was saving up money for. Upon having to sell the car, I replace the intake and all accessories so that it would be complete and no one would see a giant puzzle. Most bolts are not very tight as everything would have to be taken off anyway. Unless you are very familiar with one of these cars, they are tough to put together. The engine currently does not run and needs pushrods and lifters. The car can run after these are installed and all hoses and lines are reconnected. The car has factory smog on it. I removed it all then put plugs in the cylnder heads where the smog tubes went. All smog stuff is included with the car. I purchased a 1966 mercury 410 that i took the brackets off of so I can use the A/C idler instead of the smog pump. Both are included and you can decide if you want to go back with smog or run the included idler. The car came with a factory bench seat. I found original buckets (also Ivy gold) and installed them using the correct factory seat risers (outside corners) and fastening hardware. I also installed a factory seat hump reinfrcement that is needed for support. I was out of shielding gas and the welds are a little messy but can be cleaned up to look nice. I obtained a factor floor shift assembly and installed it and wired it to the factory neutral safety harness under the dash. This is the way it would have come from the factory. I then swapped out the transmission side lever to work with the floor shifter, as the column shift lever is different. The column shift neutral safety switch and parts are included if you would like to go back to a column shift as is the factory bench. The column is still a column shift and it was the last thing to be swapped over that i did not finish. The console everything had come with had been cut for A/C i was told- but too short. It should go all the way up but does not. The corect heater deflector is installed on the A/C heater box so that the heat doesn`t just get trapped behind the console. The console is drilled for a emblem but does not come with one. The Doors have the correct GT/XL stlye door panels and are wired up correctly to light up when the doors open. I used mustang factory wiring as it is the correct color and looks original. I obtained a deluxe wheel that I wanted to refurbish as it is brocken but on the car. The original wheel is included. I had the brake booster rebuilt and got a new master. The calipers are also rebuit and rear wheel cylinders replaced. The master is new, but has been sitting for a while and has surfaced rust. I have not done anything to the suspension or rearend. I moved the car very little before the engine stopped running. The exterior sheetmetal of the car is as I purchased it It appears the front drivers fender was hit and damaged the hood. Both had been replaced and there is no frame or inner apron damage. There is a couple of things that I would like to mention that need to be or should be adressed. The Vent window was broken and I located a used one that is included. The wiper switch broke and will need to be replaced. It is outside of the car and included. The Jack is Missing The rear Passenger wheel well moulding is missing and I believe is the same as a Fairlane and is easily found. The Dash trim has a hole drilled for the Propane button that was there. It will need to be repaired or replaced. I didn`t want to say 99% complete or something like that. I would rather list the items that it needed or had to be fixed. This was a Vinyl top car and has some rust in the driprails that will need to be fixed. The roof has suraced rust that a good grinding will fix.The door corners and certain parts of the floor (very minimal) will need to be cleaned up and can be filled in with welding wire or rod. No sheetmetal replacement is required on the car as it is solid but showing its age. If the car Sells for the Buy It Now price, I will also include New Seat upholstry, carpet, headliner, door panels and carpet. I will also include a Edelbrock intake if the Buy It Now is used or if the car reaches 3,500. I am trying to represent this car as honestly as I can and encourage any questions that anyone may have. It is a solid car that is worth restoring or else I would not have put so much work into it. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if I sell it to a local buyer. It comes with a bill of sale and blue 80`s plates. I never got a title for it and have a bill of sale from the old owner. I can help obtain a title if needed.
