Vehicle Detail

2004 Silverado 2500HD, 4x4, Bi-Fuel (CNG & gasoline) State of this truck Kelly Blue Book uses four level rating system to describe vehicles: excellent, very good, good, and fair. I would estimate that the overall state of this truck is good to very good. Why? Since this truck has practically new engine, exhaust, and tires, I would call this part of the truck to be in better than excellent condition. The rest of the truck is in fair to good condition. Therefore, the overall condition has to be better than good. Important Explanation: I completely rebuilt the engine, although I did not have to. The valve job would have been sufficient. Nevertheless, I allowed my mechanic to talk me into spending a lot of money for something. I really did not need. After the rebuild was done, I found out that the engine had only one big problem: the intake valve on the third cylinder. I could have gotten away with far less than $5k that I spent for the engine rebuild. On the upside, I have practically brand new engine now, and my mechanic can easily make his next mortgage payment. Then after the overhaul, I decided to secure the job by installing new exhaust system: all four new catalytic converters and new muffler for additional $950. Call Boba (661-533-9331) Unless you insist on spending $35k for a brand new dual fuel truck like this, take a good look at this beautiful beast. The truck has a few dings and scratches, but still looks OK. More details: Why do I call it awesome? - The OVERHAULED engine has less than 500 miles This means: new pistons, new valves, new bearings, new oil pump, new engine mounts … new everything - There is warranty till October 2013 on the engine work - The rest of the truck has only 68,400 miles - NEW exhaust system (cost > $950) - There are a few dings and scratches in and around the truck bed. Nevertheless, the truck looks OK. Rear bumper is slightly pushed in on the driver side. - Super tight automatic transmission - Four Kelly Safari TSR tires are nearly new (worth more than $950) - ABS - AC works perfectly well. - Power windows, locks, and mirrors (no cruise control) - Long bed (8 feet) - Bedliner - NO RUST anywhere - I saved most of the old parts as the proof of rebuilding Call Boba 661-533-9331 About the CNG - The CNG system was designed by Quantum Fuel Systems. - Tank Volume: 63gal = 17 gge (gasoline gallon equivalent of CNG) - CNG tank (type 2) expires in 2019. - System pressure 3600psi - 2004 Silverado 2500HD has a 34gal gasoline tank. The range is simultaneously huge, gigantic, and colossal: On open road: 16x17+32x17=816 miles In regular driving: 16x13+32x13=624 miles Of course, accuracy of this calculation depends on fill up pressure. If the fill up pressure is at 3600psi, it is reasonable to expect at least 16gge from the CNG tank. If the fill up pressure is significantly lower then 3600psi, the tank will yield less then 16gge of CNG. I drove this truck for about 300 miles on one full tank of CNG which means the gas mileage is good. Boba 661-533-9331 Why use CNG? - At the moment, Gasoline Gallon Equivalent (gge) of CNG is more than dollar and a half cheaper than regular gasoline. This means: by using CNG you will save about $1,600 or more for every 13,000 miles. - Once more: the SAVINGS ARE $1600 or more for EVERY 13,000 MILES or 12 cents per mile. - CNG burns super cleanly. It does not leave any deposits in cylinders or on valves. Therefore, CNG engines have a long and trouble free life. - There are more and more CNG stations all around the country. Call me to find out how to find them. Boba 661-533-9331 Conclusion This is one great truck; mechanically the truck is between superb and almost new, aesthetically the truck is decent. If you mostly care about utility of a truck, this truck is for you. If you want newer and better than this, buy yourself a new truck. Once more: I rebuilt the engine and fixed all of the mechanical problems. Therefore I can confidently say: mechanically, this truck is in great shape.
