Vehicle Detail
1985 JAGUAR XJ6CHEVY POWERED As pictured, 1985 Jaguar Vanden Plas for sale. This Jag is powered by a 350 chevy engine and was recently pulled out of of storage where it has been for 6 years or longer (according to the DMV it's been unregistered for 10 years). We have clean Wisconsin title. The car has not been detailed but still looks good. The Jag had some old gas in it so we flushed the passenger side gas tank and replaced the carb. It also had some old mouse stuffing in one of the tailpipes that blew out when we got it running. We also replaced the battery. The engine does not smoke (it was cold in the pics and was just started to move it around) and sounds great. The Jag does now start, run and drive. We have only driven it a few miles but have let it idle for long periods. It starts good now, engine sounds good and we were able to get the transmission to shift through all three gears. In the brief ride I took it offered the usual sweet ride of a jaguar. We were briefly able to test the headlights, power windows and heater blower and they do work. The right blinker worked but the left did not. We did not locate the face plate for the stereo. The Jag does have brakes and they are firm. The power steering works, but has leak. The body is still excellent with only a few small imperfections. The exhaust is good but needs to be hung better on one side.. The seats and carpet are nice, dash is cracked, wood inlays have aged, tires are very good and so is the glass. The AC compressor has been removed and is in the trunk. We did not extensively road test the vehicle. It should be thoroughly gone through prior to it becoming a regular driver. True mileage unknown, speedo and gas gauge not working. It's going to need some tinkering but is an excellent project vehicle. Here's your chance to pick up a very nice Chevy powered Jaguar for a reasonable sum. ***NO RESERVE AUCTION, HIGH BIDDER WINS*** TERMS AND CONDITIONS: By bidding on this item, you are agreeing to the followingterms. As noted in the auction, the inspection period is during the auction. The underside of the car is really clean, even the jacking points. This is a project car that has been sitting idle for probably a decade. You will not be able to "drive it home". I put a carb on it, flushed the gas tank and put a used battery in it to get it to run. You should trailer it home and do all the maintenance needed on a vehicle that has been idle for a long time. It starts good and idles fine, but I did not adjust the carb in any way. I drove it a short distance and it did not stall, kill or overheat but it seemed sluggish to me. The accelerator pedal seemed stiff and the carb will probably need adjusting. Since the gas tank was flushed I put a pair of extra filters on the car to ensure the new carb would not pick up any gunk not flushed from the tank. The new owner will need go through everything since I have really just gotten it to run by performing the tasks mentioned above and nothing else. As stated in the listing, you are welcome to come look at it, have someone look at it for you or request a copy of my inspection report prior to auction end.
