1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme "triple white" 442 Convertible 1970 was the pinnacle of the muscle car era, and the Cutlass/442 model is one of the most highly sought after muscle cars on the planet. My business partner and I recently acquired this sweet 1970 Oldsmobile convertible several months back from the state of Kentucky. Two southern gentlemen attempted to restore this car as a team and they gave up. The body was completely solid, and we saw no signs of this car ever being involved in an accident. That's when my partner and I decided to make the purchase, and finish the car off the way they intended. From what we were told this car spent its entire life down south, so the body and frame were never exposed to the elements of the midwest. A copy of the Kentucky title to verify this cars previous existence will be given to the winner of this auction. This car is being sold as is with no liens, or salvage on an open, clean, and clear Wisconsin title. Plus, The new title verifies that this Olds was previously titled in the state of Kentucky. We were told the mileage could possibly be the original, but the mileage is exempt when these cars are titled nowadays, so we are uncertain to make that statement to be factual. This car had only one re-paint prior to the current paintwork. This was a very easy body to work with that needed very little filler. As you can see from the pictures, the body is virtually laser straight. This is a drivers quality paint job that some people might consider to be show quality, but we personally do not. The chrome is all in nice drivers quality condition or better. We believe the front bumper to be actually brand new. This body was painted in the proper basecoat for 1970 in code 10 Porcelain White, and then the W-25 ram-air hood stripes, and the W-30 side stripes were painted with code 53 Saturn Gold. Following the basecoat and stripes, were four coats of clearcoat to bury those stripes into the paint. This car looks spectacular to nearly everyone who sees it. This car is for the guy or girl who had one in high school and would like to revisit the past, or for someone who simply likes to drive around to enjoy steering their investment while their money grows. It's also a wonderful car to take to the local drive-in movie theater or cruise night. Doesn't every guy or girl deserve to have an old school classic car to tinker around with in their garage at night? These cars were made to allow the average guy or girl to be able to work on them without having to pay the high dollars of having a shop have all the fun. There are a wide variety of muscle and classic car part suppliers out there today that stock nearly every part you could ever need for these types of classic cars. Local swap meets are also a fun hobby to acquire parts where nearly any part can be found very inexpensive. Spring is right around the corner, and this car is getting ready for a full summer of top down cruising! The original convertible top has been replaced by the previous owner, and they said it is less than a year old. In our opinion this top appears to be in very good condition, so we both agree that this new top should last for many years to come. Don't worry! The photo's in this auction were shot on two separate days. The first set was shot last week, and the top down pictures were shot earlier today. The top was put down inside our heated shop, and then put back up after the top came back to room temperature. That was the only option to avoid cracking the nice material. There will be plenty of time for the new owner to have the top down in the springtime. This newer top also has a rear glass window, not plastic. Included with this auction is an original convertible top boot to place over the top whenever the top is down. The original 1970 Cutlass/442 owner's manual is also included in the glove box. The dual exhaust is relatively new, and rumbles nicely with what appears to be the original exhaust manifolds. New chrome exhaust tips were just added for that muscle car look. Every time this car is fired up, it's like an adrenaline rush! The engine was detailed and has yellow Super Stock 8mm spark plug wires for maximum spark. This Olds was ordered with factory air conditioning, and all the parts seem to be in place except for the compressor and the hoses. Making the air conditioning functional will be left up to the next owner if they so desire. Although the four core radiator is a good start. The condensor is still even in place in front of the radiator. This car starts right up every time, and drives down the road wonderfully, and the turbo 350 transmission shifts very smooth. A new set of AC Delco spark plugs were just replaced, along with a new distributor car, and rotor. The negative battery terminal cable was changed, and both terminal connections for the 1000 cranking amp battery. We were told the engine may be numbers matching, but neither one of us could find the numbers to verify that statement. The 4 barrel Quadrajet carburator sits on top of an Oldsmobile High Performer aluminum intake manifold. This classic Olds has some very rare options for a 43 year old car. It has the W-25 forced air induction ram-air hood, with chrome twistdowns to make sure it stays locked down in place. It has the infamous Whale Tail spoiler to help give it down force at high speeds. This Olds has the dual sport mirrors with the drivers side being remote controlled. It is steered with the deluxe four spoke 442 sport wheel. There is nothing like cruising down the road looking out the windshield at that awesome striped hood, with the top down, and a peak in the rear view mirror to see the whale tail spoiler at a glance. Also included is power steering, power brakes, power top, and air conditioning. This Olds has a 10-bolt rear-end, but I am not sure of the gear ratio. This Oldsmobile rides on a very nice set of four raised white lettered P225/70R15"Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires. The newer tires are mounted on a set of four Super Stock II wheels color coded in Saturn Gold to match the W-30 stripes with all four center caps, and all four beauty trim rings mounted with all new chrome lug nuts. Brand new Mondello springs were just installed last night to make this Olds sit up proud to look like a real 442 should. The head lights, bright lights, all four tail and brake lights, and even the license plate light all work as they should. The horn, lighter, and clock are not working, but the clock is set on the best time of the day. It's always 4:42 time! The front bucket seats were just reupholstered, so they will be nice and comfortable for many years to come. The balance of the interior shows very well as shown in the pictures. This car has an after market Pioneer AM/FM Cassette player, but is not wired up. We saw no cracks in this dash, and it was never all cut up, so the choice of stereo will be left up to the winning bidder. Many Oldsmobile owners like to put the original stereo radio back in place, so since this dashboard was never demolished we figured we would leave the stereo preference up to the new owner. The wipers work fine on both speeds. New wiper blades were just installed with a brand new washer fluid container, and a new coolant overflow tank for the 4 core radiator. The floors and trunk had some minor patchwork that was done right, and the frame is in surprisingly very good condition. Brand new carpet was recently installed with brand new floor mats before the very nice console and bucket seats were installed. The original trunk floor was coated with spatter spray, and the trunk floor has a very nice rubber Oldsmobile trunk mat under a nicely restored jack, and crowbar. A full size Super Stock II wheel with a raised white lettered spare tire comes inside the trunk just in case there is a mishap on the road. With a quick tire change you can be on your way looking complete. Everywhere you drive this car people are attracted to this droptop like a magnet. You must be prepared to be the spectacle of the neighborhood. These cars are getting harder and harder to come across. We tried to replace all of the factory decals to make this car appear as it would have looked the day it rolled out of the factory onto the showroom floor as a real 442 convertible would have looked back in 1970. Take advantage of this chance to finally own your dream car. It is a fact that a 1970 442 convertible sold at Barrett-Jackson in the spring of 2009 in West Palm Beach Florida for $173,250. We're not trying to insinuate that this car is anything like a Barrett-Jackson museum piece by any stretch of the imagination. Although, We both agree that this investment will continue to rise as these cars have been known to consistently appreciate in value. Why pay those inflated prices when you can own the same looking car for quarters on the dollar?? No one will know that this car is not authentic except the new owner and us. We're not telling anyone! This is a prime opportunity to own a piece of muscle car history at a fraction of that price. A great deal of time, money, and effort went into making the car you see listed in this description. What you see is exactly what you get! Plain and simple! This car drives as nice as it looks, and barely has any rattles like these convertibles typically have being 43 years old. The Kentucky climate always kept these cars in much better condition than your average car. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide has the current values that anyone can check on-line for a genuine 1970 442 convertible listed at $54,625 in the highest condition, $29,325 in average condition, and $16,732 in the lowest condition. We both personally feel this car looks in much better than what Nada describes a 1970 Cutlass Supreme convertible in average condition, but then this car was upgraded with all of the awesome 442 options that you see in the pictures.
