Up for auction is my 1998 BMW 740il.Car has 131,375 miles.Color is blue.Interior is tan.Engine runs good.There is a transmission problem.When you go to take off,there is a warning that comes up on the information display on the dash that says"transmission failsafe program".This puts the transmission in 4th gear(limp home mode).Car drives,but doesnt upshift,stuck in forth gear.Took the car to BMW dealer,they say transmission is bad.I have a hard time believing this,since transmission shifted perfect up until the time I received this warning.I had car on jack stands and put transmission in drive and it upshifts fine.I put on the ground and I get the warning again and its in only 4th gear.I'm not a mechanic but sounds like it could be a sensor.I dont need this car,so I dont want to put any more money in it.Car goes down the road good,drove it 50 miles to a friends to store it.Body is in overall good shape,with little rust except for a spot on the drivers side rear quarter panel,above the bumper.Couple small dings,other than that the body is straight.Interior is tan,in decent shape for a car 15 years old.No rips.Engine is a 4.4 liter V-8 with good power,doesnt burn oil.Car is loaded with options,including air,power everything,power sunroof,much more.New battery less than a year ago.Car is a nice cruiser.I think a good mechanic can fix the transmission problem,but I am selling as-is.Car can be a good driver or a great parts car.I have a clear Indiana title in hand.Any questions,please ask.Cell # is 574-339-7902.
