Hello Fellow Ebayers, You are viewing my friend/customer's 1965 Austin Healey Sprite mk III The MKIII Sprite is regarded as the best drivers Sprite and the ultimate evolution of the marque. It has "luxury" features like a real convertible top, roll up windows, exterior door handles and locks and even an improved rear suspension that allows you to keep the fillings in your teeth for more than just one jaunt in the car! My friend has "upgraded " to a 356 Porsche and has come to the tough decision to let the lil green giant go. This car was competitive at all Motorsports events it entered as well as winning many trophies in auto cross events. I will break the car down into subcategories to describe it as accurately as possible. Unibody/Paint- this original British Racing Green Sprite has NO rust I can say with confidence. All the body seams are clean and straight with no evidence of being improperly lifted or jacked up. The paint is in excellent driver condition with only some minor chips that I will try to have touched up for the new buyer. The doors open and close with a solid sound and good seams. The deck lid and bonnet open and close as intended with good panel fit. The Interior and Trim- As you can see the interior is in beautiful condition with tasteful white piping over black leather seats. All carpets and mats are in excellent condition. There is an abrasion on the drivers side kick panel from my friend getting in and out of the car as he is over 6 feet tall. The steering wheel is unarguably the best looking Moto-lita with the only thing missing being the string backed leather gloves draped across the rim. The Roof- The Sprite has a brand new convertible top and full tonneau cover. The Motor- The motor was built by the owner using high compression pistons with head porting and polishing. This is being fed by two S.U Carburetor's and taken out with a racing header and exhaust. This car has the coolest sound when you get into the throttle and makes addictive sounds all the way to redline. The often hated Lucas starter was swapped out for a lightweight trouble free high torque unit that starts the motor with just the turn of the key. The Transmission- The transmission is filled with Swepco racing fluid and shifts through the gears smoothly with no grinding or issues. The Rear Axle- Is fitted with a Quaife locking differential for putting down the power in and out of the turns. The Suspension- This Sprite is fitted with competition springs and shocks front and rear. Upgraded sway bar for quick nimble maneuvers through the courses or the streets. As you can see, the stance on this car is spot-on with a very competitive look. The car still drives quite nice on the street so blasts through the back roads are just pure fun and this really is what a sports car should be; simple, light, fast and fun! The Electronics!- obviously, this is a small part of the car but everything works other than the heater box that is not installed for weight reasons. (The box will be included with the sale.) The Wheels and Tires- The Sprite is sitting on Yokohama street/race, super sticky tires wrapped around period correct lightweight Panasport wheels.
