Vehicle Detail
1974 Series III 88” left hand drive Land Rover. 2.25 liter engine (gas) Warn freewheeling hubs Tropical Top Land Rover snorkel kit 4 speed transmission Rebuilt Solex carburetor New muffler New starter New foot wells Parabolic springs Power assisted brakes Original heater that works great Rebuilt engine and transmission (by previous owner) This is a very nice example of a Series III rover with nice accessories like the snorkel kit, light guards, fold-down steps on the three doors, the tropical top, hood mounted spare tire, defender style windows, and warn freewheeling hubs. The frame is in excellent condition with no rust. If you are looking for a modern and comfortable truck, this is not your truck (no AC, no radio, no power steering), however, if you want a truck that will take you anywhere in any condition, this truck is for you. Known problems: This truck is almost 40 years old so it does have some minor issues and of course it leaks a tiny bit of oil and the oil pinion seal leaks on the front axel a bit but I just keep an eye on the levels every so often and it hasn’t been a problem (all land rovers leak). The rear suspension is sagging on the drivers side due to damaged bushings (parts are $4 each), could use a paint job, smokes a bit when you start it but it quickly goes away, the parking brake could use adjusting, brake pedal sticks every so often, very minor rust on the truck since most of it is aluminum. There is also a small leak in the gas tank about half way up on the tank (this hasn’t been a problem for me as I just put half a tank of gas in and it doesn’t leak). The rear window tracks on the tropical top are in bad shape but I have the replacement parts (just haven’t had the time to fix them). The trucks odometer reads about 87,700 miles but it stopped working before I bought it which happens a lot on these trucks. The actual mileage is believed to be closer to 100,000 on the truck and about 30,000 on the rebuilt engine/transmission. These are the only problems that I know of. The only reason we are selling our land rover is that we have a baby on the way so we could use the money. I am selling it for a lot less than I have in it. Lots of extra parts. I have the land rover listed locally and therefore reserve the right to end the auction early. Deposit of US $500.00 within 48 hours of auction close. Full payment required within 7 days of auction close.
