Vehicle Detail

1962 Chevy Impala Lowrider '80 Chevy small-block 350-c.i.d. V-8 stroked to 383-c.i.d. with an Edelbrock carburetor and Air Gap aluminum intake. Cool-Flex radiator hoses, Hooker headers with Flowmaster exhaust with billet aluminum Pulleys. T-350 3 speed transmission. The famous Ted Wells of Old School Hydraulics in Altadena, California, installed 10-inch cylinders in the front and 12-inch cylinders in the rear, sitting on 3 1/2-ton (front) and 2-ton (rear) coils. The Old School pumps use one Adex dump (front) and two Adex dumps (rear) while 12 Exide Commercial Premium Group 31 deep cycle batteries that are 2 years old and four switches power and control the setup, front, back and 3 wheel. Fernando at Fernando's Upholstery in Los Angeles took care of the custom interior work, consisting of silver vinyl (with gray inserts) in the stock pattern. Car has power windows, seat, locks, sunroof and tilt wheel. Also included is an old school Ted Wells color bar under the dash. Sound system includes a Pioneer P8300UB single disc, satellite ready head unit that is less that a year old, 2 amps-Xenon x200.4 and Xenon x1200.1, 4 interior 5.5 speakers, 2 MP Quart tweeters and 3 Xenon x10d2 10" subs. 2 sets of wheels come with the car. On the vehicle right now are 13"x5.5" O.G. 100 spoke all chrome reverse rims with Milestar Touring SE P155/80R 13in. white walls with less than 200 miles on them. The other set are 13"x7", not sure of the make, 100 spoke all chrome reverse rims with Milestar Touring SE P175/80R 13in. white walls with less that 100 miles on them. Reason for the 13x5.5 rims is when the car is slammed all the way down, the rear tires don't rub on the wheel wells. Also included are a set of steel rear fender skirts that are primered and ready to paint. Bruce B., the builder of this car put a lot of effort into this ride. From reinforcing and painting the frame to chroming almost everything that could be chromed to installing a very nice, factory looking sunroof to the paint graphics on the top, a lot of love was put into this car. The car was called "Bubblicious" and it was a feature car in Lowrider Magazine: http://www.lowridermagazine.com/features/0410lrm_1962_chevrolet_impala/ The good and the bad. The good is if you are looking for a platform to build a killer one off show car, this is the car for you. Most of the heavy work is done and with some massaging and patients, this car would be one of the best street rides out there. Car runs great and probably has too much motor for this car. The bad is you will need to repaint at least the bottom portion of the car. On the right rear quarter the paint is cracked an there are a few other chips here and there. The graphics on the top, you are starting to see cracks on the seams. You have to look close but they are there. Power seats and windows need attention. They all have power but the seat barely moves and the windows need help going up and down. Sunroof works great. The car is a handful to drive. You put that much weight in the trunk and put small tires on it, the rear end likes to "sashay" back and forth giving you a very uneasy feeling when you start to reach speeds of 55 mph. Would not recommend driving cross country. I have replaced the steering box and rear bushing to try to calm down the "sashay" and it helped a bit. I live in the Myrtle Beach area of South Carolina where I enjoyed driving and showing the car. Folks here are not used to seeing anything like this and have got very nice responses from the locals. Had my fun with it now it's time to move on. Car is advertised locally so I might close auction if it sells here.
