Vehicle Detail
1991 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4X4 189,000? Miles I really shouldn’t be putting this up for sale since I’ve spent so much time and money making it a reliable vehicle, but I have purchased a larger truck. ALL WITHIN LAST 28,OOO MILES: **Rebuilt engine, with new cylinder heads and all fuel components; injectors, regulator, pump, filter **New exhaust/no catalytic converter **New oxygen sensor **Rebuilt transmission/torque converter by Advanced Transmission in Mauldin, SC **Larger, aftermarket transmission cooler **All new fluids; transfer case, differentials, coolant, oil **All four new ball joints **Radius arm bushings **Axle pivot bushings **Brake pads, rotors, caliper pins **All four shocks **Transfer case shift motor **Manual hub conversion **Radiator, fan, fan clutch **Battery **Alternator **heater/ac blower motor and resistor **Wiper motor **AC compressor & clutch, condenser, all lines (barrier r134a), variable orifice, accumulator, cycle switch **Tires have plenty of life left in them; I rotate them often and keep it aligned. They are larger than the factory size, 30x9.5x15. **Rear drive shaft u-joints **Power steering pump **CD player/radio, and front speakers cruise control works THE QUIRKY STUFF: **I could not get 4 Low to work even with a new shift motor; so I used a jumper wire to override the ecm into thinking all safety measures are met (it’s supposed to only go into 4 low when in neutral and brake depressed); so it is possible to shift from 4 high to 4low with the vehicle in motion. New owner will just have to know to not ever shift into 4 low without it in neutral and their foot on the brake and be completely stopped. **After I put all the new AC parts on I had a local shop charge it and it worked fine for a summer but then it all leaked out, so AC doesn’t work. **The transmission sometimes can’t decide which gear to use in city driving in overdrive. This is most likely due to the camshaft I used when I rebuilt the engine. I used a manual transmission cam that has a little bit of advance that changes the engine vacuum. This transmission is vacuum controlled. An adjustable modulator would cure this. I only use overdrive on the highway because of this. **The clear coat is flaking off the paint, but no dents. There is a rust hole in driver rear rocker. The seats are ripped, especially the passenger front. The headliner doesn’t match interior. The power mirrors do not work. **I painted the sunroof black so the sun wouldn’t be beating down on me **it burns a little oil in two cylinders. Not enough to smoke or foul the plugs or show low compression. I’m not sure if they weren’t honed properly or if I broke the new engine in wrong but it hasn’t been something I’ve worried about. I think I have covered pretty much everything I can think of on this explorer. I wouldn’t have a worry getting in this and driving some distance. There is no reserve on this auction. Winning bidder needs to pay $500 deposit via paypal and balance with cash in person upon pickup. Thank you!
