Hi and welcome to my NO RESERVE auction! This lovely car is running well and has both the hard and soft tops in very good condition. It has a strong engine which still should have many thousands of miles left to run. I drove it 400 miles to Flagstaff and back without a problem last week. There is no rust on the body or undercarriage because it has spent all its life in the dry air of Arizona. Therefore it would make a perfect project car. This car is really solid! The transmission is very smooth with no slipping. Both windows are electric and working, which is rare for these cars. The soft top is working well and even has the original tool for taking it up and down. For a car of this age the interior is looking good. I have seat covers that come with it and a dash cover. All the lights are working as is the stereo. This car also comes with power steering. The hard top has the plug for the rear window heater which is quite rare. Wipers are working as well. I took it to an Autozone to get the battery checked and they told me it was in very good condition. This car even has the original jack and spare wheel! I dont know much about cars so I took it to a Mercedes garage recently to see what needs repairing. He said there are a few minor things but nothing major so I will try and be as detailed as possible. The most expensive repair are the tyres need replacing because of their age. The car vibrates between 50-65mph and he reassured me this was because the tyres are old and this will stop with new tyres. He said the fuel filter and brakes will also need replacing soon as well. Also the water pump needs a service as does the steering bracket but this he said was not a big problem. Overall he was confident that the car would be in good shape after these repairs which should cost about $1500 which is why I have no reserve. He said the engine sounds fine and there is little to worry about because these cars apparently do 250000-300000 miles in their lifetime so this car is only about halfway through. Cosmetically it has a few scratches as you would expect but nothing major. The trunk lid might need respraying because the paint is flaking off as you can see in the pics. And the A/C needs to be recharged. Also the blower and cigarette lighter don't work but this could be just a fuse that needs replacing. Hot air still can come in for when it gets cold but it just doesn't come in very fast. All these repairs are relatively simple for an experienced enthusiast which is why it would make such a great project car. I have tried to give you as much info as possible but if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. It does need some TLC but nothing major and once sorted you will have a very valuable car.
