Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a very rare Police Interceptor. A 1971 Dodge Polara Pursuit Interceptor originally powered by the mighty 440HP Magum big block, the Mopar Interceptors are generally acknowledged to be the most intimidating, most powerful and most desirable of all the police squads produced. Massively powerful, exhibiting menacing road presence, the Polara Interceptors were never a welcome sight in the rear view mirror of the musclecars of the day. Built to run all day at speeds over 120mph, these cars are truly legends of the highway. Finding one of these old Mopar squads in any condition is rare indeed, as most were immediately stripped of their musclecar drivetrains as soon as they were decomissioned. What was left was usually scrapped. Many others that somehow escaped this fate were unceremoniously utilized as unbeatable demo derby behemoths. When a vintage Mopar Interceptor is spotted these days, they are usually restored and recognized as the important elements of the musclecar era that they were. Much rarer than the Cudas, Road Runners and Chargers that they shared drivetrains with, they stand on their own merit as collector vehicles. When we have attended car shows with one of our restored squads, they are always one of the most popular vehicles in attendance. Just fun cars to cllect, drive and own. This particular Polara Interceptor was originally commissioned into service by the Washington State Highway Patrol. It is an E86, U-Code 440HP police spec Mopar. Sadly, the original engine and trans are now missing, but the remainder of this very rare police legend is intact and ready for the restoration that it deserves. Stored for decades, this Polara still wears most of its original paint and has its original interior. Both fender tags are present, including the Special Order tag. The certified police spec speedometer is in place and in mint condition. The impossible to find windshield is also intact and in place. Much of the original, survivor interior is intact and servicable. The body on most of these old Mopars usually succumbs to rust and you are lucky indeed to find one that has its original panels intact. This car has very minimal rust and has very nice floors, trunk pans, etc. While it does have some minor body damage, there is no reason that all of the original panels could be used. All of the glass is in good condition, the gauge panels/switches are very nice and the door panels are also servicible. This Polara doesn't need much more than a suitable 440/727 combo and a few other odds and ends to be ready to patrol the roadways again. Or, conduct a full restoration and you'd me way ahead of the game starting with such a good, original example. All of the extra pieces shown in the trunk are included as is the driveshaft. The clear pink slip and a good broadcast/build sheet are also very desirable and included. Otherwise, anything not seen in the pics is not included. Offered at no reserve, don't miss this chance to obtain a very rare Mopar from the musclecar era. A must for the emergency vehicle collector as real Mopar police interceptors are rarely offered for sale. Nothing wrong with a nice clone, but nothing beats the real deal, like this car. Imagine the life its led-good luck and thanks for bidding!
