Vehicle Detail

1946 CHEVROLET PICKUP...VERY SOLID BODY AND FRAME WAS USED AS A COUNTRY GENERAL STORE DELIVERY TRUCK RUNS LIKE A SOWING MACHINE+++DRIVE GREAT TITLE: Clear Tennessee title in hand! I love the street address on the title "Whippoorwill Hill". VIN: DEA-39306 HISTORY: This truck was used as a delivery truck at Clouse General Grocery Store in Cookeville, Tennessee, this is east of Nashville. It was used at the store until it closed about 35 years ago. It belonged to the estate until a local man bought it. He did a few things to it, but left it mostly original the way he bought it. He grew tired of it and decided to sell. This is the story my friends from Cookeville told me. TIME SAVER!!!!!! This is a good looking, good running and driving truck. It is not a perfect truck, it is no rust bucket, it is a very sold truck, the paint shines great (it has the old enamel paint look, mostly specs, no dents, several chips and marks that have been touched up, past owner said the cab paint was original other than the redline stripe, the engine is a 1955 up-grade to get the crankshaft insert bearing and get rid of the babbit rods (this is a good thing), the engine runs sweet, the transmission is a 4 speed that shifts good (it growls in the lower gears, but is fine in high gear, this is normal), the truck drives great for a 46, the brakes have been redone and have silicone brake fluid, the bed wood is very good, the glass is good, the wipers and lights work, the speedometer and parking brake are not working, the gas gauge works, the oil gauge and charge meters work, the interior is good, but not new, IT JUST A GOOD OLD TRUCK THAT YOU CAN DRIVE AND ENJOY, BUT IT NOT PERFECT! I DO NOT SHOW VEHICHLES ON SUNDAY! I WILL DO NO TRADING! IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS? No rust problems, the body is very good, not detailed for show on the underside, but solid. WHY AM I SELLING THIS truck? I’m a retired auto-mechanics instructor and was a helicopter mechanic and instructor in the Army in the late 60s, when I find a vehicle I like and can sell for a fair market price, I buy it fix a few things and resell. WHY DON'T I FIX EVERTHING? I have 2 other projects started and don't have the time. The things I tell you about that don't work or look perfect are not dangerous and they will not keep you from driving or using this cool old truck. PAINT: Nice drive and enjoy quality paint. It has a very good shine, no dents and no big dings. By drive and enjoy quality I mean just to stand back and look at the paint it looks real nice, if you look for it and inspect with a critical eye you will see several imprefections. What I mean by imprefections is some minor touched up chips, lots aging specs in the old enamel paint. Past owner said the cab paint was original, it could be, the red stripe has been repainted for sure, the bed wood has been redone as well as some of the board supports. The best thing about this truck is that is solid, no bad rust issues. CHROME: The chrome on the front bumper is very nice with no dulling and peeling, the grill is super nice, the headlight rings very nice, the back bumper is dull in some big places, but it solid. INTEROR: Nice looking interior, but not new. No holes or bad worn places, some marks and scuffs, but its a nice looing interior that looks like the correct materials. CHASSIS: The frame is very solid. GLASS: All the glass is good, it must have been replace, the door window do drag the weather stripping a lot. SOUND SYSTEM: Roll the windows down and hear the engine purr. AIR CONDITIONING: Roll the door windows down and let the fresh air do the job. ENGINE: It has no blue smoke no rattles, runs strong, no bad oil leaks, past owner said its a 235 cubic inch out of a 1955 Chevrolet. The original engine had babbit rods, the 235 has inserts and more horse power. It is a sweet running engine. EXHAUST SYSTEM: Good used condition. TRANSMISSION: 4 speed manual, it does not jump out of gear, it shifts good, the lower gears growl, high gear is good, the clutch is good and smooth. REAR-END: Original and is in good condition with no whines or growls. BRAKES: The brakes are good, past owner did a recent brake job. STEERING: It drives good to me, in fact I would say it drives very good. WHEELS AND TIRES : Original 16 inch wheels, tires are 6:00s, they have good tread, but the rears have several checks on the outside. LIGHTS and wiring: Headlights work, tail lights work, brake lights work. SPEEDOMETER AND PARKING BRAKE ARE NOT WORKING! THE WOOD BED IS GOOD! The wood is good, it has been redone, the supports on the undersides have been replaced. RUNNING BOARD HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND SPRAYED WITH BED LINING MATERIAL+++TAIL GATE HAS BEEN REPLACED. . HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE? TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard! The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the vehicle, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information. CONTACT INFO: my cell telephone number is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time or on Sunday morning or Sunday nights. Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day. cell 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many. THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET. WHERE THE TRUCK IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville and 50 miles north of Chattanooga. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights. WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, Tennessee “Athens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee “I am truly qualified to be called a Hill Billy”. I am 66 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 41. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for almost 43 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE! US OR EXPORT “I use Nations Auto Transport, they are located in the Kansas City area”. contact Jim Page his direct office line is 816-295-6887 and his email is jpage@shipnat.com MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast. PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car. I will take paypal for the deposit, but not for full payment. Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face. Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had a fake bank certified check. Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire transfer. And its safe for both of us. WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Not without a $250 non-refundable deposit! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit you’re just looking and dreaming”. INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 64 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors are unpredictable, you might get a good one, but most of them do not impress me at all, most really don’t know what to look at, they make a good car sound bad on the report. They have to be very critical to cover their back sides and all their concerned about is getting paid. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first! BOTTOM LINE: My firm price is $13,850 and I'm asking more on the local market, "THIS IS MY LOWEST PRICE".. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down. WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY. Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info. READ ALL MY FEED-BACKS AS A SELLER! Thank You, Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com I am very careful about taking payment, I have had a fake certified check, it looked real and the buyer seemed real. I will take one, but I will check you out. I am ebay varified, that means you can buy ebays buyer protection plan and they will guarantee thats I'm real, they will not guarantee the car.
