1949 CJ3a Willys – From California so it is fairly straight, clean and very little rust. Mostly stock – except all the running gear is out of an early 70’s CJ5 which includes: Buick odd fire V6 and Stronger Dana27 front axle and Dana44 rear axle With upgraded 11” brakes all around. 4.88 gears t-14 three speed trans (one of the strongest three speed) Single lever t-18 transfer case, stronger than the earlier t-18 In other words, much stronger setup than most people swapping in a V6 or V8 with stock running gear. I bought it 9 months ago, and this is still what I did to the Jeep: New water pump, battery, new alt, new fuel pump, rebuilt carb, re-wired the entire Jeep, cleaned out fuel tank, added back seat and roll cage. It has been running for 9 months, It start up every time I use it, but only drive it around my neighborhood and to pick up kids at school once a week. I did have it out on wheeling on some logging roads, but nothing harder than that. Things that it still needs: The motor is old and tired; it needs a good tune up and Carburetor. I have a carburetor that is in better shape, it just needs to be rebuilt and installed. The throttle linkage is only opening up half way. Like any old Jeep, it does have a few leaks. I have no idea when it was last registered; it looks like it is well over 10 years ago. Other goods: It also as an aftermarket heater, just not hooked up. Has a tow bar.
