Vehicle Detail
- one family vehicle -- 78 Lincoln Town Car Coupe - - Wedgewood Blue - - Soft White Leather Interior Great Condition - This car was purchased new by my uncle, kept in his collection for many years, and gently loved for all of its 23,890 miles, - A one family vehicle You will be amazed at the great original condition of this Lincoln Town Car. This vehicle will need a very light restoration. It has some minor cosmetic issues. The vehicle operates and performs as it should. There are no mechanical issues with the engine, transmission, or breaks. This vehicle has never been in a collision. It has never been stored in the sun; therefore, the supple white leather interior is 99% mint condition. Driving this vehicle with its powerful 460 V-8 is like floating on air. It holds to the road but you will never know the road is there, as you float in luxury This car is practically ready for show. The vehicle was garaged in Tennessee until 2005, when it was moved to one of those metal carports open on four sides, at which time it caught my attention. It took me until 2009 to convince my uncle to sell me the vehicle. Carport storage was the worst experience of this vehicles exesistance. With the four sides open, the car was completely protected from the sun by the surrounding hemlock trees. The carport storage kept the worst of the weather away but allowed the hemlock needles to build up where the trunk slopes into the roof near the back window. That created minor damage to the paint. Please look at the photos, the damage is not serious, but the car will need a paint job to be show perfect. All imperfections in the paint have been treated to avert serious damage. A very light restoration will take you back in time to the era of traditional full-sized luxury cars. If you are looking for a show car this Lincoln Town Car is easily restored to perfection. We purchased this vehicle from my uncle’s collection in 2009 in Tennessee. At that time, it still had the original factory hoses and vacuum lines. Planning to drive the car from Tennessee to our storage facility in Kansas, we replaced the hoses and vacuum lines. With new antifreeze and after changing the oil to Mobil 1- full synthetic 10-40, the car did the trip without issue, and was the most comfortable 1200-mile drive I have ever made. Four (4) new tires were put on the car in Kansas. We believe this car has always been a ‘non-smoker's’ car the ashtray show no evidence of use. The only damage to the car is a small dent on the driver’s side door it happened during storage here in Kansas. The dent should be properly repaired by removing the interior panel and pressing the dent out. There is no reason for filler In this Lincoln Town Car, you have an American icon of luxury and power. Additional Information / Coments from eBay Members From: w*******3, (edited for privacy) To: mwhopsartSubject: message about Lincoln: Town Car 2-Door - Coup #221161742998 Dear mwhopsart,Just wanted to let you know, that I have the 4 dr model town car, in the same color as yours, only mine has the blue velour interior, instead of the leather. I bought my Lincoln in Rochester NY back in 1978, right off the showroom floor, and today its only got 31,000. I just had the Lincoln appraised at 22,000 on the market, but I will NEVER sell the car, until I am deceased. The Lincoln people have never made a better car than this, and I doubt they will ever come close againFrom: w*******3, (edited for privacy) Dear mwhopsart,I used to work at the Dearborn plant in Mich. back in the day/ 70's, when these cars were rolling off the line. Your Lincoln, based on its Appearance, and condition, is worth, between 12,000 for the low, and 25,000 for the high. This Lincoln of yours falls in this range. You should be able to get this price, because the coupe was made 1 for every 100 town cars (4dr). So this makes them rare to begin with. And here we are decades later, they are very scarce. For me, I like the 4 dr town car, with the rare (Bubble) roof, the oval opera window in the sides, and the velour interior. I have owned in my lifetime so far 50 of these town cars 1975-79 model years. And my baby blue 1978, with velour interior, opera windows, and bubble roof, with a mixture of white and blue interior, full fender skirts, 2 inch white wall tires, Very rare and in Mint condition From: w*******3, (edited for privacy) Dear mwhopsart, The color of your Lincoln is called Wedgewood blue, that is also the color of mine as well. A very rare color, only a hand full of the Lincolns were painted this color, and it was a special order color at that. I worked at the part of the plant at ford, where I was in charge of installing the engines, 460, for most, but around 78 going into 79, ford started putting in the 351/400 engines, it was the end of the line, for the BIG Lincolns, and the end of the line for the 460's. Never again will we see those big cars or those big engines. Now, I hear for 2014, ford is making a turbo charged 1 cylinder, and the engine is so small, it will fit into a small suitcase :( Actually,,,its a very beautiful car,,,if i was you,,i would keep it. They do not make cars like this anymore,,,plus when you drive it. It takes you back to a time,,,when our country stood strong,,,and the cars reflected that,,,gas was cheap,,,,food was cheap,,,,housing,,,,cars,,, everything. I won't sell mine,,,until they pry the keys from my dried boney hands. They just don't makem like this NO MORE... :(From: w*******3, (edited for privacy)
