One owner 2001 VW Jetta TDI with approx 400,000 miles (yup.. not a typo) but in need of some maintenance to get you another few hundred thousand miles. The car: 2001 Jetta TDI 1.9 liter, 90 horsepower, 4 cylinder turbo direct injection engine, front wheel drive, power rack & pinion steering, 15" tires with 5-speed manual transmission. Galactic blue pearl exterior, beige leather interior. Purchased options included the luxury package, leather package & monsoon sound system. 6 disc CD changer added later. Has all weather floor mats, mud guards. I currently average 40 miles/gallon in mostly city driving. My usage: Car always garaged & regularly maintained by the local VW here in Sioux Falls. All service records available. I had a 160 mile daily commute on the interstate that racked up the miles over the years. Interior in very good condition although the driver seat showing some wear.The car has been incredibly reliable but after all these years & now that I have a 10 mile commute, I've decided to splurge & get something new & hope someone can make use of a great car. The bad: Car needs a new alternater, glo plug, tires, driver seat track (seat locks in one position only), & its time for a new timing belt which gets a little spendy when you have the dealer complete it. I've hit 3 little critters on the interstate & had front end bumper, radiator & engine compartment damage repaired each time. Paint shows its age with noticeable peeling. Driver side window control panel missing the passenger side window button. Car keys only useable manually...the auto lock/unlock not working. Assorted chips & some rust noticeable. If you are mechanically inclined & can complete the needed maintenance economically, the car might be a good value to fix-up..on the other hand I'm not sure how long these engines can go for so bid accordingly. I'll be happy to answer any questions & car is at the dealer lot if you are close enough to inspect it. I've listed the car locally so it is subject to prior sale. Thanks for looking.
