Vehicle Detail
1956 Ford F250. My uncle parked this truck on our farm in western Oregon in 1968 and left it there. Mother nature lovingly applied a special patina over the next 40 years. All in all this truck isn't in real bad shape. From the firewall forward, all the sheet metal is good. The bottoms of the doors have moderate rust, the floorboards have rust holes in the part your feet rest on, but the part under the seats seems ok. The firewall seems ok. The lower rear cab corners on both sides could be replaced. It is missing the starter, the driveline, the bed floor, the tailgate, and some springs on the left side. Actually, all the springs except the main leafs are gone on the left side, front and rear. The brakes were frozen, so I disassembled them and took out the shoes. Right now it does't have any brakes of any kind, either pedal or emergency. The emergency brake stops the driveline, but of course there isn't any driveline so the emergency brake doesn't work. You'all be careful moving it around ya hear? The frame is straight. There is no evidence I can see that this truck has ever been in a wreck. If it had, my cheap uncle would have never fixed it. So how can it be used? 1. I cut out some butcher paper and eyeballs and teeth and made it into Mater. I blew a total of $15 customizing it. Every kid in range comes running. With cell phones, I can claim it is the most photographed vehicle at any event you take it to. Sooo, overhaul the engine, fix the brakes, fix the suspension, put in a driveline and use it as is. With a little work it can be a fully driveable rat rod. The body really isn't that bad. 2. Stuff a big engine in it, keep the body, keep the teeth and eyeballs. Go have fun at the local car show. 3. Stuff a big engine in, slap the hood on and you have the ultimate street sleeper. The engine compartment is big enough to walk around in. Sit on the fenders and work on the mill all day long. Way back in the 60's we would stuff a A Gas engine in a old 1948 Dodge pickup "for break-in purposes" then do wheelies across the intersections in downtown Santa Barbara. Then we took the engine back out, stuck it into a 39 Willy's and went off to Lions or Burbank or Santa Maria or Bakersfield. Never finished worse than 2nd. 4. I had planned on lifting the body off and setting it on a 1997 or later F150. The wheelbase and tread are pretty close. Now you have a cheap rat rod on a modern chassis. 5. Go nuts and rebuild it from end to end. You wind up with a longer lower effie. Delivery-- The truck is located just east of San Francisco, Ca. I can deliver the truck almost anywhere in California, Nevada or Arizona for 50 cents a mile. Beyond that we would have to find a delivery service. Preferably one that will handle a pickup that doesn't run and doesn't have any brakes. On Nov-26-12 at 17:54:11 PST, seller added the following information: Title-- This truck carries a original State of Oregon title, listed as a 1956 Ford PU. The truck was originally purchased in Iowa, and title was transferred to Oregon on 02/06/63.
