Vehicle Detail
This vehicle was purchased in 1984 from the original local school teacher owner. See last picture. It was always garaged and when it snowed she walked to work. She had new woven seat covers installed along with a new replacement headliner. She last drove it in l 1972. After 1982 it set outside unused. When I purchased it in 1984 the outside paint had deteriorated badly. This can be seen in the last picture. The paint was removed down the bare metal, primed and painted with lacquer paint. The front end suspension was rebuilt. The rear engine seal was replaced along with the clutch. An original muffler was installed. The master cylinder (with brass sleeve) and wheel cylinders were replaced. New wide white wall tires were installed. I added a windshield sun visor, stainless door window shades, 1955 Caddy hub caps and bullets, lake pipes, dummy spot lights and skirts. It has 2” lowering blocks on the rear and clamps on the front to compressed springs. This reduced the height by about 2 “. The under body has the original tar undercoating. When removing the fenders for painting, I had to break the tar seal on the fasteners. All the stainless side trim was removed for painting and polished . It has a working, wind up clock on the glove box cover. It also has the original working defroster and under seat heater. It has early aftermarket signals. The original jack is included. It has nonworking fog lights in the front and a backup light in the rear .The door and rear panels were reupholstered. The bumpers and bumper wings were rehromed. It is a rust free vehicle. The only damage was the passenger side fenders from the original owner the garage door in her later years. These were banged out and refinished. It has the original trunk floor mat and rear carpet. The front mat is a new replacement. It has the original 6 cylinder, 216 CID valve in head engine. A Country Club wood kit was added about 10 years ago. It was reproduced by a master carpenter using an original for patterns. The frame is ash, the panel is mahogany veneer. It fits perfectly. The joints are an exact match. The wood has not seen water or rain since installation. The bumpers and wing tips were re-chromed. It now starts quickly, runs smooth. It is smoke free and knock free. The vacuum assist shifter plunger was removed before I got it. It shifts smooth as butter with two fingers. It rides like a marshmallow! It has not been used much for the last two years. It could use a little polish to look nice. There are two ½” paint chips on the fender. Have a clear title/bill of sale. It has been used for car shows and local cruise nights. It now has 110,000 miles on it ……..and remember RUST FREE……..and runs like new!
