It had seen some hard times. The motor was blown it had been spray painted cancer in a few spots normal bus stuff lol. So I began by having a shop do the welding and had them paint it sublime lime. I didn’t have them do the door jams or motor compartment as it was allot more money and I wanted some of the old paint still there. I really like the green on the outside and the red in the motor compartment I think it looks awesome. I then had a shop build and install a 1776 with a counter balanced crank and a single 34mm carb as I wanted daily driver reliable not performance again for my wife. I replaced the windshield seal as it was toast and a brand new westy cloth top $400.00 spendy little tops lol. So buster is an awesome daily driver or cross country bus. I met the guy who owed buster for 12 years and took him on a 13,000 mile road trip everywhere so Buster is not a stranger to the road. So here was my awesome plan. I was gonna fix Buster up and my wife 2 daughters and I where gonna go be nomads for a few years;) I know awesome right? It was gonna be sweet. So 2 months after I bought buster my wife fell sick with a pulmonary embolism a blood clot in her lung. So now she can’t travel as she has too many doctor appointments blood thinners the list goes on and on. So I really don’t want to sell our cool little family bus but we can’t go now and Buster needs to be free) so the interior is not vinyl it is cloth material not vinyl... The awesome 1776 that is in Buster was built by a VW shop that has been in business for 30yrs not by a guy in a garage. He has a few small holes in his front floor boards like all the older critters do. But he earned them on his many years on the road they add character not unsafe. His driver door handle and passenger door handle have the key holes messed up. The old owner told me someone tried to break into buster on the east coast and he wouldn’t let them in lol;) So again that’s just more character I think. I just lock the doors and go out the slider as he will lock from that door. So Buster is 41 years old he is entitled to have a few little charters marks he earned them. I wouldn’t want a perfect little bus I would be worried it would get a scratch or a dent. Buster is a beautiful bus he deserves a good home. He is not a perfect bus but he is awesome and I love his big green self. So if your lookin for a cool bus Buster is a cool bus with character that has been earned.
